Apple's 'Mother Nature' sketch was a complete dud, and didn't belong in the iPhone 15 even...
I'm surprised at your criticism which seems to miss the boldness of doing it in the first place. Right in the middle of the presentation, knowing we're all going to stay for the iPhone information. I know your critique is about the quality of the writing and performances not about the message, but the message is really important and I'd argue if it had been better 'performed' or even funnier it might actually have lost some of its impact. It was pretty clear and pretty impressive what Apple is doing and it's leagues ahead of other people in that space and they want to use a really-high profile occasion to make the point, clearly and impressively. Also it's a sly dig at corporate greenwashing and it's really worth re-enforcing that point, however clumsily. In fact I really think that seeing that many top execs at Apple all in on this, and of course they're not natural performers, we don't expect that, shows how seriously and genuinely Apple takes these matters.
Bold, direct, impressive and important - that's how it came across to me. -
Getting Snoopy on Apple Watch was more challenging than you'd think
It is utterly delightful...
I think there are so many other little things in this slew of OS updates that are a bit fun, a bit animated, a bit surprising, where designers have added a little extra over and above functionality. I'm thinking it's reflecting a happy software team in the broadest sense at Apple. -
Time Bandits cancelled by Apple TV+
I really wanted to like it and really wanted it to be good but it had no idea what it wanted to be. Essentially it just wasn't funny or silly or crazy enough and it just became oddly repetitive which given the cast and the budgets and the expansive nature of we can go anywhere in time... ought to have helped. I think it honestly missed Gilliam's madness. It felt like an homage rather than its own thing. Or maybe, Time Bandits really is just a movie and can't hold the expansion of a longer treatment. But kudos for trying... -
Jon Stewart reveals the moment things went bad with Apple
Just shows the quality of the man. He gets it and realized that actually Apple TV+ wasn't the best fit for him. The shows weren't great, there was something a bit wrong with the format, partly his fault and he seems to hold up his hands to that. I think he's still great and I'm very glad he's back once a week in a format that's perfect for him. His comments are fair and dignified to be honest. And he's right, Apple's main gig is selling stuff not giving content away for free, which is a perfectly fair observation as well. I don't think there's any need to pile in on him. He keeps his integrity and so, really, does Apple. -
John Giannandrea out as Siri chief, Apple Vision Pro lead in
@Malcolm, you are reporting this story almost verbatim from Gurman's exclusive from Bloomberg and yet you aren't crediting his scoop. Did you source this story directly yourself? If so, congrats. If not, then please give Gurman the shout out for breaking this story ahead of Apple announcing it. -

Tim Cook talks wine, chocolate, and how Apple Watch saved his father
So it is. Why is it Caffè though? Maybe it's a wink and a nod to Caffe (Convolutional Architecture for Fast Feature Embedding) as well as the Italian version of café: https://caffe.berkeleyvision.org/
