Epic sues Apple after Fortnite removed from App Store
The rules are simple. If you offer payment outside of the app, you need to allow the purchase in the app at the same price. That’s all. No one is stopping you from selling subscriptions or stuff outside of the app if you do it properly. These are the rules.
So what a epic wants is all the benefit of the App Store without any of the cost. They want preferential treatment. Apple can show that they have created an ecosystem for small development shops to flourish. They have done this using the revenue split model. Traditional brick and mortar stores make their money off selling shelf space at a premium so companies with more resources get preferential placement. That sounds to be what Epic wants.

Epic says Google set up a 'Fortnite task force' over Play Store moves
I’m pretty tired of hearing about this Fortnite guy who thinks he’s gods gift to the world. Dude, you want the rules to bend to you so you can make more money getting kids addicted to video games. That’s it. That’s your whole play and you’re doing it in a way to make yourself look like the hero. While I as a developer agree that some of Apple’s policies are a bit restrictive, we must also realize that without Apple or Google, these games and their successes would not exist. The App Store and Apple products are popular because of some of these policies. -

Facebook continues newspaper attack over Apple ad tracking privacy program
Users should have the right to know how their data is being used. Period. It’s called privacy and consent and Facebook/Google made the mistake of basing their businesses on the collection and capitalization of this data. Apple is just saying that is you put an app on their App Store that you announce your intentions and the user can decide if they want to use your service or not. -
Europe asks if Digital Markets Act should apply to iMessage
There is no issue with free market dynamics when it comes to iMessage. You can choose what phone operating system you want to use and choose from a variety of messaging platforms. No one is forcing you to buy an iPhone. No one is forcing you to buy an Android. No one is forcing you to use the built-in messaging features either. The EU is just poking their regulations into business and innovation. -
Hands on: The 2019 MacBook Air is a bargain, but SSD speeds fall
M68000 said:Wow, that's a significant change in the SSD, like around 33% ? Maybe the new keyboard style has something to do with space inside the unit and a different SSD was needed, just a guess. I have the 2018 Air and I'm used to the keyboard so many "seem" to be complaining about. -

Intel to outpace Moore's Law, surpass rivals in 2025, CEO says
Sure. But Apple has already begun work on the M2 and M3 likely that will outperform the M1. Some things that are left out of the Alders Lake article is... what is the GPU performance? What is the performance per watt? How long will the battery last under load? Intel is desperate to keep its clients so of course they will say this to keep its customers. I don't see it happening fast enough.
