The camera device sounds absolutely feasible to me. iBooks with G4s in March don't. If the camera carries the same $399 price tag as the iPod (which it probably will, maybe $349) it will probably get blasted for price, yet still kick ass in sale…

A 17 inch model would be cool JD, but they can't make enough of the 15 inch model to meet demand now, so what does that tell you?

With sales through the roof there's NO REASON to upgrade this soon. It's just nonsensical. I'm actually beginning to think they'll wait til after MWNY. Maybe on August 23rd. (Isn't that the iMac's birthday?) It would be a good surprise for the 4 yea…

Agreed, Monkey, I used to work at Staples and I know exactly what you mean.

People are going to have to learn that when you have a laptop in a METAL case it is going to conduct heat a lot faster than any other material, even if the G4 is cooled down, the thing will still be very warm/hot. I have a TiBook and I love it. …

Not really, considering it's been in development for over 2 years now and the G4 mobo hasn't seen any changes for over a year....

Not really. The SuperDrive could easily be mounted near the base of the pyramid. The new iMac could probably have had a pyramid base if Jobs wanted it to. I just don't think a pyramid looks right on a desk...

"Now, with the iMac G4 Sphere, not only does the screen appear to float, but the whole unit floats before your eyes using state of the art gravitational technology!" - Phil Schiller

I wouldn't be so sure. The iBook design has been out for nearly a year, and I don't think Apple is going to do an overhaul anytime soon. I think the ideology behind the 14 inch model was to just pop a bigger screen in, adjust the case accordingly…

I think it will have a slightly redesigned case. (Evolutionary), a G4 at about 700 or 750 MHz, and a 16 MB Radeon graphics card. OH yeah, and the higher res screen too. This change however, probably won't take place until the TiBooks get G4s …

Applenut, I agree. A Mac-only iCam and iConference would suffer the same fate as eWorld (remember that?), simply due to the fact that it was a minority service and never got off the ground. With iPod, iTunes, iMovie, etc., Apple really doesn't h…

Well, simple then. Make it a cross-platform initiative, like QuickTime... (hint hint, QT will be the centerpiece of this initiative )

I agree Drew. I think if Apple put as much effort and marketing into iChat and iCam. (or whatever you wanna call it) as they have into iTunes and iPod, that video conferencing would be pushed to the forefront as part of the digital hub and PC vendor…

VMX, do you KNOW for certain this is too early? Or do you just think it isn't possible? A lot of people thought the new iMac wasn't possible. At least not at MWSF for the price it's at.

I have no inside information either, I just think May is a more probable timeframe for a new TiBook after reading what Greg Joswiak had to say about hardware updates.
-
True, but I still don't think we'll see an iBook update as soon as MWT. If they had better iBooks they just would have waited and not announced the updated ones at MWSF. They could easily hold out on sales of the older models, as the iBook is one of…

So I guess the statement from the Sr. Director of Product Marketing saying something along the lines of "We've just updated all 4 quadrants in the last few months, no new CPUs." doesn't phase anyone? I mean, there may be a bumped TiBook, but doubtfu…

Even though I now doubt we'll see any new TiBooks, I think we'll see some new displays with better screens, higher res, and new casing. Maybe even a 24 inch Cinema Display for the price of teh current one!

I made another thread about this, but I think the video phone functionality will be implemented by Apple into its computers, further solidifying the computer as the digital hub. iCam coupled with a new iChat (or iPhone) software, would intergrat…

JD, I agree. I know Greg, and he's a really smart guy. Right now Apple's lineup is pretty fresh, and they need to focus on retail rollouts in the next 3 months to expand marketshare and get these new products out so people can see them and buy them…
