very quiet, can hear it accessing the disk every now and then but its unnoticeable unless you specifically listen for it.

use webmail.mac.com to manage your account(emptying deleted messages and so forth), much easier imo.

yup same subnet on all machines. The alias thing is a good idea and i will probably use it, though i would still like to figure out why the browsing feature does not work

have you tried logging in using the owner name and password? try using the chooser instead? and of course is file sharing turned on?

This is truly weird. You might try using a low-level disk format from the pc to erase all partitions and mbr. other than that im not sure
