Does the new update include any changes to thermal detectors? My PB CPU temperature is reportedly 10 degrees Celcius higher. It used to be about 30 degrees, but is now about 40 degrees. The PB is not noticeably warmer, nor do the fans come on more o…

Soundsource is yet another alternative http://www.rogueamoeba.com/freebies/

It should make no difference at all. Are you using the same equalizer settings in both machines? That could explain the difference.

Yea! This fixed a font corruption problem I was having. I use my PBG4 1.67GHz (High Resolution) with an external Sony Trinitron 20in (VGA cable). When I use TeXShop with monitor spanning, the preview PDF file always came up with corrupt looking f…

Lightroom Beta2 just released and is a Universal Binary. Hoozah! Will give it a spin, but it's got heaps more features now...

I've experienced quite the opposite actually... Lightroom was a lot faster on my machine than Aperture. But Aperture has a much nicer user interface of course and is more powerful in terms of functionality. This was on a PMG5 dual 2GHz (dual C…

If you're thinking of just some cables, then you're out of luck. You'll need an amplifier module of some sort to do the digital to analogue conversion, or get it done in speakers that accept digital input. Either way, it's more money, or revert t…

Some newer (and more expensive) speakers can accept optical input. The conversion is done on the speakers itself. But if you have an older (or cheaper) set of speakers, then this won't work.

Intel macs can run PPC code, in an emulated environment. So, it the application was written in x86 code, it does not have to run in an emulated environment and hence faster. Universal Binaries have both codes embedded. Depending on which platform it…

Classic should still run on any G4/G5 machine, just not OS 9 on its own.

None of Apple's machine can boot OS 9 since the last Powermac G4. That's right, even the current G4 machines don't boot OS 9.

I don't use Entourage, but can't you change that from within the Mail.app application itself?

He just said he was converting pre-existing songs. More importantly, Rosetta runs fast Photoshop you say?

IIRC, any changes to font smoothing requires a relaunch of programs. This includes Finder. Try logging out and back again to restart all applications, including Finder.

Why are some talking about optical out? Wasn't that already available in the last G4 version?
