OT Will the introduction of the new iMacs be Steve's triumphant return to work? Let's hope he recover soon.

The iMac is one area that Apple could really use a little competition. I really believe that if someone else were making Macs there would be a low cost G5 right now. It may not be as pretty as the iMac or have the expandibility of the PowerMacs bu…

Is it possible that the supposed service manual picture is from the new 1.8 GHz model. It has the older PCI versus PCI-x slots and can handle only 4 Gig of ram. All the pictures that are on Apple's web site might be of the 2 and 2.5 G machines. …

Hey, look!! Another AI thread degrades to another Mac/PC price comparison topic.

Just curious. Has there been any official announcements or even hints that there is any PowerPCs beyond the 970fx. I know IBM does somewhere mention it as the '970 family' or something like that. I don't remember seeing anything more concrete tha…

No need to make up rumors. I found this from Macworld in an article about the original release of the G5. "When Steve Jobs announced that the G5 would reach 3GHz by June 2004, he let us know just how confident Apple is in its partnership with IB…

This makes the move directly to 3GHz more believable. I really did think there would be a ~2.5 GHz update inbetween.

It looks like there will be more information later today. From the ISSCC2004 program, IBM will be talking about the POWER5 at 1:30 and the 970fx at 4:45 PST. Hopefully they will release a copy of the presentations soon after that. ISSCC info

How about a Firewire port installed directly in the back of the neck and connected to the brain. That way we wouldn't have to move or even have a monitor. Everything could be fed directly into the brain and our thoughts would control the computer.
