  • If you have a year I would wait to see what comes out. If you don't like the Intels you could always pick up a used Powerbook at that time.
  • I found a couple of books at Amazon I will see if my boss will buy them. Anyone read these? Are they any good?
  • Quote: so, point of story... its fine when its vertical... but when its resting on a table, ground, where-ever, then bad (if books are on top of laptop) if you take off the bag and lean if forward, so the laptop is on top of the books (leaning in…

  • Good to hear many people look down at refurbs but 9 times out of 10 the product was returned because the person bought the wrong thing and there is nothing wrong with it. I have always been happy with the refurbs I have purchased and it saves a lot …
  • Raise it up off the surface of the table some bottle caps or cd cases work well and train a fan on it if the lockups disappear then it is definately heat related.
  • Don't know if you have done it or not but under Panther when that happens at work 90%+ the machine just needs maintenance.
  • Ok I installed Tiger and I am happy with the performance but I have one small problem it overwrote out the boot partition. I was dual booting with Ubuntu and now I can't boot Linux. I'll look at that later today or tomorrow.
  • I think a jump drive is much better for keeping things synched myself but I use mine to sync between Mac, Linux, and Windows which is nice and you can get free email at gmail. If you need a place to host look at doteasy.com you just pay to buy the d…
  • Cool if I have time I'll do it this weekend thanks again. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
  • Thanks for the reply. How do you find the performance compared to Panther? I'm obviously not a gamer with this system I mostly use it for light web development and surfing.
  • Quote: Originally posted by inaka It's not a myth, it actually works. I've done it on Dell laptops and LCDs before. I usually use a soft cloth and rub around the dead pixel a bit and I've seen then flicker and vanish before my eyes. I have…
  • I have children so I'm not worried about sterility but I do know that my PowerBook gets too hot to keep on my lap after about a half hour of use. I take two cd cases and put them under the back corners of the system this gives me a very slight ti…
  • I can't speak for others but with my 15 inch PowerBook I put the task bar on the right hand side and put my windows on the left and this gives me room for everything.
  • I feel like such a slacker You are currently using 1 MB (0%) of your 2230 MB.
  • I'm waiting to hear if it improves performance. I have a 667mhz powerbook and I'm in no rush to upgrade. I am planning to upgrade to a new Mac in the next year or two again no rush so I may just wait for bobcat or whatever is next.
  • I am very fond of a Targus mouse http://www.targus.com/us/product_det...p?sku=PAUM004U it is about half the size of a regular mouse yet still comfortable. I agree with others if you buy a laptop get a lock it's amazing how many laptops are stolen be…
