Well the problem is, December 2005 was when they bought over Macromedia. They effectively killed the only major competition they had.

Adobe is moving towards their own GPU acceleration code in CS4 though. As far as I know, the filters aren't accelerated yet, just the canvas rotation and scrolling. Adobe have made noises about adding acceleration for image blending in the future…

I use AVG at home, but at work we've decided to go with ClamAV because it doesn't have any license restrictions like AVG. The only major problem with it is that it doesn't scan incoming files - it only does the scanning based on a schedule.

I disagree, Pixelmator should be compared to Photoshop Elements. Even then, Photoshop Elements has more functionality than Pixelmator. Pixelmator is more fun to actually *use*, but there you go. Here the thing though - 90% of the people who u…

You could either use AppleScript or Automator to do this. In fact Apple already provide an example AppleScript which can be used to rename files in the Finder. If you enable the AppleScript menu via the AppleScript Utility app, you can then selec…

Opera is bundled inside most Adobe apps these days - it's used to power their HTML help system. You can get rid of it by digging around inside the resources of your Adobe apps. However, doing so will stop the online help system from working. Not …

It's funny - for years now Windows users have been complaining that on the Mac you can't full-screen a window so it covers all other apps. Now Microsoft seems to be saying is that users should actually be working with more than one window at once…

As long as the drive is formatted as FAT32 it should all work fine.

If dock size is an issue, then just shrink the size of the dock down to about 32 pixels. Pretty much the same size as the menu bar (24 pixels). I already have enough things on the menu bar already without needing to fill up further horizontal spa…

Is there any reason why you couldn't just do all of those actions using the dock?

1) Drag the iWork folder to the Trash 2) Empty the Trash

Here's the thing - Vista, Windows 7, DreamLinux, whatever. They're all rather obviously going for the aqua look these days. So I can only assume they think this is what their users want. Now if the users want everything to look like Mac OS X, the…

I'd love to find out what happened to those two "lower-level" execitives.
