• Oh, I forgot to mention that this happens when *browsing* web sites. I usually don't have a problem with popular web sites (BBC, CNN, Apple, etc) but it seems to happen mostly with more "personal" web sites (music fan sites, friends' pages).

• Heh, coincidentally, after posting, I tried out a few CDs... no problems. Oh well... hopefully the noise won't occur as often in future playings.

• I have a Firewire audio card connected to studio speakers... but the occasional loud whirring is noticeable, especially in quiet moments.

• Is there any way to ctrl-click on a folder of mp3s and select something like "Play in iTunes?" Additionally, why is it that iTunes isn't recognizing some of my mp3 album folders?
