  • BareFeats reporting it won't work. Quote: The GeForce 8800 GT is *NOT* compatible with the older Mac Pro (August 2006, April 2007) as we assumed. I've been informed that new machines use EFI64, the old Mac Pros use EFI32, to work in an EFI32 machi…
  • For many of us it's a must have simply for the fact that we've been waiting forever and can't wait any longer.
  • I bit on the 8-Core base model + GeForce 8800 GT. It's like $1000 over my budget, but I've got 0% APR for the rest of the year on this card so what the hell.

  • I really like my Miglia TVMax... it does hardware encoding in DivX format — something that Elgato's hardware doesn't offer. It has the usual MPEG2 and MPEG4 hardware encoding options too. The original TVMax comes with a license for the excellent Ey…

  • Decisions like these make me glad I opted for the 466MHz PowerMac in 2001 and not an iMac. 1.46GHz processor upgrade? Check. Radeon 9800 for Core Animation? Check. USB 2.0 (someone mentioned it...)? Check. Bring on Leopard
  • Firefox is the perfect browser for me... I'm always running the latest Bon Echo. Safari is too limited in functionality and features.

  • Don't use USB adapters. They're slow and just hog the USB bus. Get an 802.11G 54Mbps PCI adapter. If you get one with the Broadcom chipset, OS X 10.3+ will recognize it natively as Airport. I'm using the Trendnet TEW-403PI and it works great.
