  • You could always try Aperture and Lightroom out, yourself. (EDIT: Whoops, you already said you'd do that. My bad.) I use Aperture on my 1.83 GHz Rev. A MBP (1.5 GB RAM), and I absolutely love it (the organizational tools, the loupe, ...), but I e…

  • I'm hoping for a release date at MWSF, along with a big, kickass demo of everything they've held back. As for Vista, it's supposed to RTM in October, and be sold in stores and such in January.
  • Quote: Originally posted by Gene Clean The app was updated pretty recently (around March, I believe). Apple's changing of architectures is not Microsoft's fault. No, it isn't MS' fault, but they can either patch it up or take their chances wi…
  • Though aMSN isn't too hot, I've used it a few times to video chat, and it's worked pretty well. I wouldn't use it full-time, though (nor would I use Messenger for Mac, as it's really slow and generally unreliable, at least on my MBP).
  • My local Apple Store (Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica) got a shipment and opened one up and put it on the floor immediately, before adding the floor demo tidbits and all. It was pretty popular, and a lot of people asked about this, to which t…
  • Don't forget the one at Daring Fireball.
  • The update to Front Row is much appreciated. It has a few new goodies, and is much, much more responsive on my 1.83 GHz MBP. Also, it no longer crashes when my Movies folder (or any of its subfolders) contains files that QuickTime can't play, though…

  • I'm sold on the MacBook Pro. This undoubtedly has something to do with the fact that I don't depend on applications like Photoshop (though I will be running PS CS2), but I see little reason to go for the PowerBook. They cost the same (the 1.67 GHz 1…

  • Quote: Originally posted by BRussell I tried the transitions and it also crashed iMovie. I hadn't upgraded to 10.4.4 yet, and after I did that, I didn't get the crash. But it's hard to believe the Apple Stores hadn't upgraded their Macs... The…
  • For what it's worth, when I tried iMovie 6 on an iMac DC at my local Apple Store, it crashed when I tried applying transitions. Twice. On two separate iMacs. So I don't think it's an anomaly.
  • Ordered a stock 1.67 GHz MacBook Pro and am in the process of selling my Rev. C 12" PowerBook.

  • The other way is to kill the Dock process via the Activity Monitor in the Applications>Utilities folder. Just quit it and it'll restart afterwards.
  • Interestingly enough, I noticed that if you download a widget by itself--not in a file or .zip or anything like that--Safari autmaotically moves it into your widgets folder. Nifty.
  • If you want to organize both chapters and ideas in one project, then CopyWrite's worked really well for me. I mean, there really isn't much of a way to have both ideas and story in one place in a word processor like Word or what I use, Nisus Writer …
  • There's a thread over at the MacNN forums talking about Safari 1.3, and if it is going to come out, what are the chances it would with this next update, 10.3.8? I mean, it makes sense to me. For what that's worth.
