What I would like to see is a round up of everybody who commented that Apple was out of its mind to pay $3 billion for the acquisition of Beats a few years ago. Likely a future article for DED if he did not already write one.

Someone had a good point about the buybacks. They noted that they likely had to stop buying for a period of time when they knew sales were off before and perhaps shortly after the announcement as that could have been a form of insider buying.

amarkap said: Let me just put in my (possibly worthless) two cents, I think where Apple nailed it is with the bands. I know with all the other technologies these things offer, putting emphasis on the band is pretty silly right? Well, not in…

Readers of these results need to stop living in the past. Microsoft is not the arch enemy/competitor of Apple anymore. Google is. The Surface is really a Microsoft PC competing against other PCs like Lenovo Yoga, etc. Their big wins are in cloud…

Once CEO Tim Cook starts commenting, he won't be able to stop. Apple said it won't comment on the sales so if he starts tweeting, then there goes the plan. And what if sales are down and someone says they are strong, does he have to correct them t…

As for copying the dual camera, I believe the advantage of integrated software/hardware keeps on tipping in Apple's favour. They have a massive team working on photography and it is not just sticking 2 cameras in a phone - it is custom image proces…

People get overly influenced by misleading headline. If the headline had accurately said, Chinese interest in iPhone 7 up over last year, people's perception of everything afterwards would be different. The article makes the point that iPhone 6…

I guess Apple always is ready to play the long game and wait out the content providers in the US for the right deal. I never believed in Apple discounting their brand, but Apple TV could be a big trojan horse in taking over the home and converting …

I like John Gruber's analysis best for the headphone issue (though it does not seem to have appeared in supply chain rumours yet). His guess would be that the next logical step is to go wireless and including wireless earbud in the box. I could…

To answer Serndip: I'd like to better understand how they bypass repatriation taxes by buying up corporate bonds of foreign companies. These are two different issues. They have foreign cash they can't use to buy their own shares. So instead of pu…

I had similar feelings to the author. This morning I was actually thinking that for 2015, Apple should refresh the 5 and 5s with better camera and NFC Apple Pay as they should remain a standard form factor and not thought of as aging phones like th…

You can't compare the iPhone to the iwatch. It is expected that Apple is producing somewhere between 60 and 75 million iPhones. That is a huge number of units in the supply chain. This is being announced in September and will be on sale in Septembe…

The point is not just how much money Apple is making on the software sales. The other major point is how many individuals and corporations will now buy a new iPad for sure rather then consider any alternative.

I usually like the editorials but this one if off the deep side and not at all balanced. Android is now an ecosystem like iOS and unlike Symbian, etc. It and iOS will both have staying power for a long time as consumers are invested in both. On…

I think the analyst comes kind of close to the truth but misses the key points. I think that actual and perceived app differentiation makes a difference for SOME of those buying iPhones. Those "some" are the ones that need some of the unique apps …

ForThought is exactly right. If cornered by the press, officials of both CM and Apple can only say no comment or negotiations ongoing until an official announcement. There is a lot of circumstantial evidence for Dec. 18 and as a long time Apple wa…

I think that this plan means the new iPad is not selling well:) that's the story I am waiting for.
