Hey Ireland-- I've been thinking about this since the first go at the topic... I switched in 1997 and missed the earliest days of macs. Did the earliest Macs come with a bundle of apps? I wonder because from a strategy standpoint, iLife …

I think depending on how new it is, the card may already be using N. If not, go to the Apple store and buy the enabler: http://store.apple.com/1-800-MY-APPL...&nclm=Wireless If you go into the Apple menu/About this mac and poke around you…

Not sure, but it sounds like you're right-- it's the power supply. The old G5s had some pretty obvious screws to unscrew and it opened easily-- not sure about the iSight G5, sorry... Edit: I keep finding that it's officially no longer user ser…

Disk Utility is in Applications/Utilities. Just "repair disk." If this doesn't work, you can use your OS X dvd, boot it as if you're going to reinstall the OS, but choose disk utility instead (I believe from the file menu at the top of the screen)…

Wow, karbon. Welcome to the forums. Cranky first post, I must say...

The first thing to do is repair permissions in Disk Utility if you haven't yet done so. Often, when programs crash at startup, this can help. I can't help with the fonts issue, but what about reinstalling Office? If the fonts are from Powerpoin…

No similar problem, but it sounds like the backlight is on the fritz.

Considering how many fewer computers Apple sells, I'm surprised they're prices are as competitive as they are. Note how the iPod dropped in price as volumes went up. The same could happen with the computers, but not likely.

One way you could proceed is to install OS X on the drive first, then leave it's partition really small when installing Windows via Boot Camp. I don't know any other way of doing it... Drive needs to be firewire, I believe.

Your hard drive is failing, or there's a logic board problem. Take it in for service. The question mark at boot means it's having troubled finding the system-- my guess is hard drive is dying. Rare on newish computers, but it happens.
