When you close it, it will automatically sleep-- no way around it. But if you plug in a USB device when it's closed, it should come awake with the display off and everything still closed. This is often done to run it on a separate display. At lea…

One would think that the criminal's eyes would have an overall larger impact on perpetrating a crime. Gosh, maybe before the sport kit, there was no crime?! Apple! Nike! What have you done!!??

Archive and install will be fine, but if you need the complete feeling of OS X freshness, burn your files to disk or external hard drive and do a complete reinstall of OS X. You'll have to redo all of your settings and start fresh. Sometimes, that…

This is détente at its finest. I doubt Apple would ever try to enforce this, but it is a wonderful bargaining tool because they can always nonchalantly remind the other party of their strength here. I'm really surprised by this. It's a BIG pate…

This is the program I was thinking about (displayconfigX), but I'm not sure if it works on all Intel machines. It's also not free, but it might be worth it. The developer's link is below, but you can also get it on macupdate.com. http://www.3de…

It's not the mac that is holding it back exactly. I don't have the time right now, but there is a free download available to handle "non-standard" video.

Yes, thanks. I thought that was clear. I'll be sure to wink next time.

Actually, I have a Tiger tutorial/promotional video from Apple, but I don't know where I got it. It's too big to mail... Anyone know where to get it?

No... I didn't mean he chose the whole name, but he chose to not call it the "red" iPod because it's under the charity. Minor point...

Borat incarnate. Whatever.

That was Jobs' doing, so that people would understand it was promotional. In the future, red may be offered, but not associated with the charity. That would just be a red ipod.

I know you downgraded to iTunes 6, but maybe you should reinstall 7 and give it a shot. Sorry I'm not more help. Maybe someone who's familiar with Windows can help. I haven't really used it in any depth for several years.

If you don't need the mobility, go for the iMac. The screen and the power can cause uncontrollable euphoria. Whatever you get, you're going to love it. If you got the MBP, though-- you could always hook it up to a bigger monitor. I did that …

Actually, yes.

Somewhat on topic... could iMovie and iDVD become 64 bit to speed up rendering, etc?
-
Thanks, audiopollution. I didn't know this either.

Are you on a Mac or in Windows? And have you tried resetting the iPod?
