I believe because it's the second install disk that you can't see the files because they are just there to be installed after the OS X installer tells you to insert disk 2. Does the .rtf (rich text format, by the way, just a text file) say anything …

Create a new account, make it the admin, and go back to your account and make your account a standard one.

Authorizations only count for computers, so you could make 500 accounts, and still listen to all your music on the same computer, on any account.

aw man. you guys are right, I suppose. looks like I'll be waiting until next year for a Core Duo iBook. at least it gives me more reason to use this iBook until it's completely ready for an upgrade.

By "switching tasks," do you mean Command-Tab? Sometimes, my dock gets screwy and I can't minimize windows, but Command-Tab still works. I'm running 10.4.4 on an iBook G3.
