It sounds a bit like a '"channel-clearing statement" Anyway, I know to the hour when the TiBook is getting a CPU/GPU bump..... Precisely one hour after I finally buy the old one.

The early (not original) PB G3s were bleeding heavy. IMO, the best thing they could do with the iBook is make it a bit easier to grip - they're slippery b*ggers. Black's not the right way to go though - anyone can make a black computer...

Hmm.... supposedly it's Pixo, although they don't refer to it on their site. Supposedly they were also involved in the Newton. Curiouser and curiouser. Oops - sorry, didn't spot your reply 'till later I think I got mixed up with all of tho…

[quote]Originally posted by DaveGee: iPod using a 'cut-down' version of OS X?!?! Where do people come up with this stuff?? I have no idea. I probably heard it here - guess the BS detector was switched off on that one [ 02-07…

If, and it's a big if, this device ever gets released, wouldn't they use the same cut-down version of OS X they have in the iPod?
-
I imagine they fancy themselves a piece of SGI's action

"backstabbing" Apple? I guess Apple really don't want to sell more iPods - that's why all of the companies developing Windows and Linux drivers for the iPod have heard from Apple's lawyers, isn't it?

Are you sure it's not just a spelling error?

The thing that's funny about all of this is that no one has even used the full feature set of the Radeon yet, and that's 2 years old

Errrrrrmmmmmm You're a sharp-eyed bunch, aren't you? I imagine 1600*whatever would do seriously bad things for the more myopic of us. There's another two disadvantages of higher native resolution I can think of: worse overall video perf…

From what I hear, Logic has better Mac support than Cubase these days. You're certainly going to get the benefits of CoreAudio (or whatever it's called) faster with Logic. Then again, I did hear it on the internet.....

Re: "really old graphics chip" - like, about a half a year old. Plenty of desktop replacement PC laptops still use a Rage 128 - and some even use an S3, ferchrissakes. Oh, and what about the shared memory? The number of PC laptops I've tried t…

It's blindingly obvious why Apple uses the one-button mouse. It's designed for southpaws as well as the rest of us That said, I personally quite enjoy the "no-brainer" function of the Pro mouse - it adds a nice air of interface transparency that…

I don't think performance VS a p4 is a great benchmark really; the p4 is engineered to run at high clock speeds first, and for performance second; the AMD is a better comparison not least because the architecture is closer to the PPC. <---…

[quote]I can't think of one person I know who has bought a Mac with the Superdrive I hate to say this, but Apple can think of somewhere in the vicinity of 150,000. Hello, new iMac I agree, the Swan made my toes curl [ 01-28-2002: M…

Well, macing G5s non-OS9 bootable wouldn't help in the music market, now, would it? Then again, who cares about scruffy muscians who don't constantly buy new hardware?

Of course, you'd have seen alll those stories about how Motorola's chip business is in danger of being spun off Apple portables are still a bargain - it's wierd they don't do the same with the desktops.

[quote]Originally posted by G-News: To bad there are really no usable OSes for PCs, I'm ready to buy one otherwise. G-News XP is actually quite nice, if you don't mind the constant harassment from pop-ups

I guess they're not going to introduce a faster bus or DDR RAM unless they figure that's where the slow-downs are happening I agree, the powermac doesn't look like much next to the iMac - until you take GF3s, HD space, expandability etc. into acc…
