Something just occured to me; I'd still buy this new dual box if it were G4's. Seriously, I know everyone's hyped about the 970's but is would be interesting to know if an G4-class version of this box would "beat" an P4...just thinking.

Yes, MCETECH.com if I remember correctly.

I'll have one regardless, maxed-out, from the Apple Store. p.s. I'm rich and stupid.

XServer Raid too big?

Me too!

Sorry to be negative Nordstrodamus, this won't happen. It could happen, but it won't. Sorry.

I've always agreed with the 72dpi "rule", there are reasons why dull-type-freaks like that number, who am I to go against their word! That said I don't know that the dpi of a 17inch pb is.

I don't know, the article is based on a 1.25 and I have a 1.42, just check for the part number on your sys board if you have a 1ghz. Let us know if you can.

Aquatic, as ever, it's an MS driver issue that's stopping the extra buttons working - don't worry, they'll fix it soon enough.

they're right, the ddr 1.25 and 1.42 pm's have a usb2.0 chip - no ifs, no buts. I strongly believe that they've not "lobotomised" it to run at usb1.1 speed either. Drivers, drivers, driver eh?

I just started using the HUGE MS BT adapter, had to re-pair everything, but basically the mouse works - so it looks like it's a "MS BT mouse"/"Apple DLink adapter"/10.2.5 issue.
-
It's worth noting that I bought the MS BT mouse for use with 10.2.5 on my PB800dvi. Although it works I find that it has a small, but annoying, delay; you can't program the side-buttons and after about 5 mins the mouse loses its connection. This is …

The MS BT adapter isn't "fully supported" (i.e. acts oddly) under X. It's also really big and ugly.
-
Oh and this combo (MS BT Mouse/Apple Dlink BT adapter) may work but it seems flakey on my pb800. jerky/slow and disconnects randomly.

http://www.microsoft.com/hardware and http://www.apple.com 'hope this helps.

answered my own question by buying one. it does work.

I've got a LaCie 19 inch hooded crt and I think it's good. Not exactly a scientific response but a response non-the-less.
-
Just a quick question or two; 1. has anybody got the MS BT mouse FULLY working on 10.2.5 yet? how is it? are you using the MS BT adapter or a dlink/apple one? Thanks

I don't know about Avid users, FCP4 beats it hands-down in about 90% of the feature list, that said Avid does deal with ACTUAL film (i.e. 35mm better).

thegelding (like the name BTW, snip snip!) if I were you I would just get as cheap a 60Gb 5400 as you can. It really doesn't sound like you need the extra performance and generally 5400's run cooler than 7200's - they're almost always cheaper too. B…
