  • Mine just arrived from Shanghai via Anchorage. Just unwrapped and installing stuff now.... So far a pretty impressive machine - looks great - performs great - keeping fingers crossed... Reinstalling Adobe Web Suite - taking forever...th…
  • I thought there was macworld in Jan - but it is just the last one apple will be at. Plus Steve wont be there.... But there might still be an announcement regarding 17" macbook pros? It seems strange that only 15" has been updated - unless the…
  • Calling is definitely less convenient...you would have to call each store individually to see if it was in stock, let alone the wait time. Seems very silly in this day and age. BTW - I can't even seem to be a able to get the local store number…
  • How long do you have to wait to get a developer certificate - I tried to sign-up an pay my $99 on Sunday, but the site said basically - "we will get back to you"?

  • I' really like the mouse that comes with the Wacom Intuos 3 graphics tablet.
  • It all depends on the drivers. In all likelihood, it won't work. The drivers won't recognize the card. In the Windows world, they do use a unified driver model, where the latest nvidia package installs drivers for all of the cards. Perhaps the…
  • You know - come to mention it - I inherited this macbook pro from an ex co-worker who had changed the hard drive as well....
  • Well it keeps getting stranger. Even the disks from a new 17" Macbook Pro fail to work on the old 17" Macbook Pro. Both are 17" Intel Core Duo 2. The newer one is slightly faster processor speed. Could there be something else? Is there anyt…
  • I booted with the disk in the drive and held down c. Then I selected continue and I got the error message. I am worried I gave the 17" macbook pro disks to the co-worker when I gave them a 15" macbook pro. Would the 15" macbook pro media fa…
  • It might be dirt on the little scroll ball. Try spinning it to clear any dust....
  • Try firefox. Gmail Chat doesnt work in Safari anyway.
  • Thanks for the reply. I am back at the wireless site which works at the moment, so I cannot test. It seems so funny that FireFox can switch locations, but Safari can't. Next time I get it I will test the DNS bug. Thanks again for the tip…
  • OK - this will sound crazy, but I am going to post it in case it helps anyone else with a similar problem. I emptied the trash, and now safari works. Go Figure. Crazy - but I ran safari, it crashed, emptied trash, ran safari, it was fine.
  • I have restarted several times - even used command/option/p/r Nothing helps. I am glad I have FireFox - but I want Safari to work again. Is there a way to reinstall it or something?
  • The reason I love my mac: 1) Unix under the covers. I admit it - I love unix and the command line. I like linux too - but mac has a much better ui. 2) Hardware design - very sleek, functional, and just plain cool. (iMac and Macbook Pro her…
  • I've got the last iMac G5 revision as well as a MBP pro. 3d Graphics on the MBP are significantly better. Games will be faster for you. Most of the other stuff I have noticed less of a difference. I did find compiling in XCode to be fa…
  • My daughter has a DS - I recommend it over the psp. The gameplay is great. The pen control is cool. Brain Age is a great game. This Japanese Nuerosurgeon created it - it "exercises' your brain daily by asking logic puzzles and such. My ad…
  • The real benefit lies in executing parallel tasks. For example, if you want to burn a cd and surf the web at the same time. We use dual-core at work for our development machines. It helps alot when using VMWare - the guest OS seems more respo…
  • You can add an external sound card to support 5.1. Here is an example: http://www.macmall.com/macmall/shop/...pno~192748.asp
