Download the users manual from the support area. It states DDR2 PC5300 SO-DIMM if I'm not mistaken. Same sticks as the Macbook Pro. CL5.

Probably due to the fact the card is custom made for Apple and the performace falls somewhere in between. The iMac uses DDR3 memory, whereas a lot of the reviews on the net are cards based on DDR2 memory and possibly using different clockk speeds …
