Note how much emphasis Steve put on the recycleability of the Air's aluminum design. Apple has been going away from plastic and towards aluminum in a big way. Two of it's major "consumer" lines (as in not Pro), the iMac and the iPod all went from …

Yeah, when I first saw that picture on Apple's site, I thought there was a bit of a redesign at play. Turns out it's just a pic with inaccurate color. I think that color would be really nice on the MBP though, and then they could go with the "old …

Have you not noticed that everything else in the Apple line has gone Aluminum? The iPods and iMacs, both totally non-pro devices intended for use by the masses, have gone from plastic to aluminum. Also, aluminum is much more durable than plast…

That's not a latch release button on the Air. It's a bit of a recessed area so you actually have a place to stick your finger into so you can open it.

I think LD was to VHS what SACD and DVD-A were for CD. The intention was to create a next-gen, better format for the masses, but the already established formats (VHS and CD) were good enough for the average joe, whereas the new ones appealed more t…

Plus, a Google search for the opposite, "in line" version, yields more results. So Wilco kind of sinks his own argument with that "research method" http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&s...22&btnG=Search

Your comparison with LD is wrong. LD was around WAY before DVD, and it was an analog optical format, not a digital one like DVD. So LD can't be considered a competitor to DVD in any way, as DVD came about much later, and was vastly superior.

Apple store is up for me. Also, today is not Tuesday. Also, when they bring the store down for updates, you can access it, but you get the little "We'll be back" yellow sticky note. You wouldn't see nothing.

http://guides.macrumors.com/Buyer%27s_Guide Here you can see the average time between updates for each of Apple's products, as well as the individual times between updates. For the Macbook Pro, the average time between updates is 186 days, and…

As for buying, and then having an update shortly after: I bought a 15" Titanium G4 Powerbook in Summer of 2003. I was new to Mac, so I didn't know about product cycles, to wait, or anything like that. 2-3 months after I bought my laptop, they…

My Powerbook G4 is about 4.5 years old, still has the original battery, and still gets a good 2-3 hours of life, with WiFi turned on. My MBP is about 6 months old, and obviously, still going strong. I've never had the need to own a 2nd battery…

Yup, Apple has long stopped live streaming the keynote. If you want live, you'll have to go to one of the sites that's liveblogging the event. Then wait a few hours for Apple to post the video online. Definitely no live video feed.

Yup, if Steve announces a 16GB iPhone with 3G for the same price as the current 8GB iPhone, ATT's gonna have a new subscriber...

If any of their portable media devices are updated, I'd say the iPhone is most likely, followed by the iPod Touch. I can't imagine that the classic or nano will be changed at all. If they announce iPhone upgrades, I think it'll probably go up …

At least wait until MWSF. Intel just announced the new 45nm chips, and they're already shipping in the new Mac Pros. Wouldn't surprise me at all if we at least find new chips in the laptops, and possibly other little improvements as well. As ot…

Maybe they'd go with Macbook Travel? By the same token, I could see them going with Macbook Mini or Macbook Nano, although I do agree with the idea that in past situations, on both macs and iPods, the "mini" and "nano" suffixes also went along wi…

I don't mind tap-to-click at all. When we think about it, the laptop trackpads are really the first "multitouch" devices that Apple ever put into it's products. Right now on my MBP, I could use it well and never have to use the mechanical mous…
