My Azureus ( 2.4.0.3_b48 ) stays up fine when the Dashboard is opened. Maybe you have a conflict with a specific dashboard widget.

As far as I've seen it does update the id3 tags. If you're having a problem with some, try right-clicking the tracks and select "Convert ID3 Tags..." and set the version to none. Then after hitting ok, do it again and set the ID3 tag version.

Apparently I can scroll (with scroll wheel) an inactive finder window without any key modifiers as long as I have another finder window active. It doesn't work cross-application.
