With Google it is a privacy thing. I know that they have not been proven to do anything malicious wth the data, but on the other hand when I search for something, I want to find all the stuff related to what I search for, not just the things that th…

Personally I wouldn't touch anything Google does with a ten-foot pole, and I really (really, really) hate Office. So this is just what the doctor ordered.

When have they given computers to the (i.e. sponsored) Saudis, politicians in India, China etc...? Apple is a company. They sell computers, they don't give them away. They can sponsor things they agree with, but why should they sponsor policies they…

It is interesting, and a little scary, to follow this discussion. How is it possible to compare this to selling computers in any country? Apple has decided not to sponsor a candidate that has openly said that he will implement policies that will m…

I think the normal starting point for teaching kids to program is Scratch. They often then move on to Python. If you are into Java, you may use Greenfoot (greenfoot.org). None of these are available on iPad as far as I know. There are lots of kids t…

There are few bands that can claim similar influence on popular music. King Crimson (on symph-rock), Fairport Convention (folk-rock), Led Zeppelin on heavy rock, Bob Dylan singer-songwriter and who else? Some bands were "one-trick ponies", slik the …

My main use for my Apple TVs is as an entry point to my stereo for streaming music from my Mac. I have my whole library in ALAC on my Mac (with backups on different discs and different locations) - approx. 4 TB data. My DACs do not have HDMI - very …

So what you are all saying is that I should ditch my $10 000 Conrad-Johnson tube amp combo (that sounds much better than any "modern" receiver) for a "modern" system that sounds worse? Give me a break!

You can do that. I just searched for "Beethoven Symphony 5" and got 50+ hits. Among the hits I checked there was Kleiber, all 3 Karajan, Barenboim, Böhm, Abbado, Harnoncourt, Salonen, Krips, Gardiner, Mengelberg, Haitink, Furtwängler, Fricsay ... Pr…

I care about music, and Apple Music has a lot of it. Just yesterday I listened to Ferdinand Ries' WInd Nocturnos resorded by CPO. It seems that most of CPOs catalogue is there. 2 days ago I found Julius Röntgen's cello sonatas. Searching for "Bajaze…

I don't think Match is available where I live. Is there any use in paying for this when I have 4 TB of ALAC files of classical music locally? I also don't buy files on the net (the exception is from Hyperion that sell ALAC files of their catalogue)
