Nice, but I’m confused. Is the starting price “lower” or “larger”?

To help explain this, BARB’s measurements are unlikely to include a check on paid or trial subscription - they look at the content viewed. And Sky, the UK’s biggest pay TV service with around 23 million customers, has been giving away free 6-month …

“Mass market”? Sorry, what’s a mass market for a specialised gadget that impresses technophiles but isn’t solving a universal problem? VR is niche, AR could break out of that niche, but it has to offer things people need, and in a way that many peop…

A surpringly emotive topic? As someone who does a bit of radio and podcasting, I’ve looked into the business of audiobook narration. I can see two sides to this. One one hand, Apple is right about the scale of a real problem. Millions of books don’…

It is a bit odd. What's the highest cost of running a music service - developing the UI? Letting people store their own playlists? Probably not. It ought to be the cost of the music. It sends an odd message to the music industry that their content i…

The patent system must be broken! Not only is “we made a sign” obvious, but there’s a stack of prior use. I’ve seen dozens of studies from people testing symbols and animations for use with AI-assisted cars. While it’s definitely something which wil…

A mind for the bicycle?

Let's hope they came up with a different method from Celemony's existing DNA - http://www.celemony.com/cms/index.php?id=dna - which is amazing but rather expensive. Also, there's a big difference between simply spotting the notes in polyphonic aud…

Here's a fact about Vista - I got it on a reasonably high end Dell laptop three months ago. It still won't install SP1 due to driver issues (and it has the latest drivers on offer). Two days ago it took five and a half hours to transfer 110 Mb of sm…
