Second hand Radio Shack TR[a]S[h]-80 - 8Ks of RAM I think.

My iBook and secondary PC. (Not pictured: main Sony PC with 21" Nokia CRT, Sony laptop.)

Hey torifile - are you dissing me?!? Well, I posted merely to correct some misperceptions and add some facts. I am not advocating Gabid to use it to edit his dissertation. In fact, I'd agree with torifile on this, forget trying to use Pocket…

Oh, just realized I did not answer all the questions: Yes, PocketWord saves it in a format any Word version can open (95-XP). However, the reverse is not true: forget trying to open a complex document in Pocket Word. Speed has no effect in ha…

late reply... I don't know about the e740 but many PPCs have back-up batteries i.e watch battery in additional to the main lithium-ion battery (Casio, Dell, etc). Even if you can manage running yout main battery to 0%, your data would remain bac…

Hey Relic - forget the distractors - congrats on getting a new toy! Do post picts and reviews once you get it. As for Microsoft getting your information, I personally do not think you will have to worry about it too much for now. Install Zoneal…

A new CPU is hardly a good reason to switch! PocketPCs have been useing the StrongArm chip since 2000 and has since moved on to XScale (up to 400 mhz but more power efficient). Buy what best fits your need.

As other threads have shown, best handheld is really dependant on your needs. Sometimes a cell phone is enough for some, sometimes people want Palm and sometimes people want PPC.

Oy people, I hope this is not another MS+PC vs. Apple thread. You people never seemed to get tired of this sh1t. If Dell announced they are selling any other company's product, are you going to all "the sky is falling" all over it? I mean, HP i…

I don't think think that MS will update its OS again until Windows CE 4.0 is released. [FYI: PPC 2000, 2002, and SmartPhone are all on Windows CE 3.0] The new OS will be optimized for the Xscale processors unlike the current crop.

I would not go with an iPaq due to its lack of native CF slot. For example, it is very easily for me to plug-n-play a CF LAN 10 Mbit directly into a PocketPC and get an IP via DHCP. Ditto with a 56k modem card, 802.11b card, memory and so on. Ther…

I am interested to hear how you've got it to "sync".

Compaq's iPaq can run linux (QTopia, I believe). I have not seen another PPC that does this though.

Apple wins on design - there is no doubt about that. I have gotten more compliments on the iBook than all my previous laptops combined. However, in my view, design is different from hardware. There is nothing preventing PC manufacturers to come…
