Apple is really missing Jony Ive. The Mac Studio was an affront to design - a monstrous carbuncle that never should have been released. A 15" MacBook Air would be further offence to design sensibilities. Bring back the 11" MBA and make it a new desi…

In reality, the M2 is just a better bin of the M1with more cores activated and then run at a slightly higher speed. The 'Mac Studio' is a design monstrosity which should never have existed. It does due to the very late-running Apple-silicon Mac Pro…

More precision than to 1g is not only unnecessary but adds 'noise' making the display harder to read. If you are weighing gold 0.1g makes a difference, but not with pasta, rice, fish, etc. i.e. the purpose for which it was designed!

This is the problem with 'big data' type AI, it is as fallible as the underlying data. The process of curating the data is, so far, infeasible. Junk in, junk out.

"AppleInsider generally advises to prioritize memory upgrades over storage, and to rely on alternate ways to expand storage capacity for the cost." That makes sense for a desktop but less so for a laptop. A laptop is mobile and it is a pain either…

The lengths the marketeers go to without basis in reality - In Euclidean geometry, the one with all live in, there are only three axes. The fourth is imaginary which helps with calculations about inductors and similar. But Panasonic has five. If it …

3nM is around the theoretical limit of feasibility using silicon. I wonder if there will be associated reliability/longevity issues? I would prefer some form of ECC baked in. It won't be a good day when you discover that a small percentage of your f…

I think it is clear that Adele is at least planning on a big break and is fulfilling her remaining contracts before she does. Her next album may be '50'.

Sorely missed. He is right, there is a huge amount of baggage associated with language. You can tell an evolutionary algorithm to design a chair, a table or laptop by specifying its desired parameters and qualities, without mentioning its name or …

I think the market share percentage would be quite significantly different if it were measured by value. All those other laptop brands have some very cheap models. It is a little like the headline a few years back that went something like 'Apple has…

Perhaps recognition, at last, that recent Apple product design has been, at best, mediocre?

"It's not great when your brand new product makes people want the old one" There have been a whole series of these 'backward upgrades' recently, not least the MacBook Air. Apple make some minor on-paper spec improvements but trash the design.

Turn your mind to which Apple products you should buy now and keep in unopened, pristine condition for future collectors. My bet is on the MacBook Air M1 but you will have to wait a long time to find out.

"Size is everything". If you have ever visited a Japanese department store you would know this to be true. The smaller, the more expensive. I know Americans have a reputation of being fat and wanting absolutely everything to be bigger but Apple is…

"The European Union is, in theory, a force for good across Europe — just ask anyone in Britain now they've found out how much the EU used to do for that country" I had to laugh at that! The EU member countries comprise of two distinct types: a) the…
