Apple is all about vaporware this past year... or pretty close to it. Seems like just about every product has been introduced at least a month before shipping. Ah, for the days when you could got to the store that day...

Thanks for the assistance. The IOGear one looked nice, I was let down when they said it wasn't compatible. I think part of the problem is that the 1.6 G5 uses standard PCI still (I think?) but the others are PCI-X. Might explain the confusion?

The Keyspan ones I have looked at are not compatible with the G5. I'd prefer to avoid the trial and error method of compatibility... EDIT: I also just got word back the the IOGear ones are all 5 volt, and the G5 needs 3.3 volt ones...

Blue Dalmation aluminum iPod minis! Woo Hoo!

Just like the Cube. Apple has a great product and screws up the price. No way $249 sells the iPod mini when you see what $299 gets you. It needed to be sub-200. It needs to be sub-200. I thought Apple learned this little consumer lesson with the …

Um, didn't Apple buy a Cray supercomputer back during the wacky 90's when it was thinking about doing its own chip design? As I recall, didn't turn out to be the best investment...

I did it through the G5 Up-to-Date program, via fax. Called to see if they had my order today. The guy had the order, but said they weren't shipping yet, the warehouse expected to receive them Friday and ship via First Class Mail. Disappointing n…

CHUD worked for me too. Fans a spinning slightly faster, but the white noise of the fan is so much better than the beeping.

What I want to know is do ALL G5's make this noise? If not why only some of them, and why is the solution a software one when they are all running 10.2.7? I am willing to install thee CHUD once someone at Apple tells me it is an official, support…

Well I will be taking my G5 into have the power supply replaced as soon as the part arrives, and I'll advise on the issue. Totally unacceptable in such an expensive machine, if you ask me.
