What is the model number? That can be traced back to a brand.

Dual 500 or older, it's probly a Quantum. Anything newer is probly a Maxtor. I think.

I'd say the most overlooked upgrade is the hard drive. A good HD like the Western Digital 120JB (or 80JB if you don't need all the space) would speed things up a little if you do a lot of disk inensive work. If I remember right the orginal G4s had…

You probly won't be able to overclock that model for the reason you mention in your own post. Apple couldn't get them to 500MHz, so 600 migh be out of the ballpark. If you do get up to 600MHz, take a picure of it and your middle finger, then sent …

Make sure you have it on a surface that is good for an optical mouse. Shinny or plastic mouse pads don't work right. Try puting a pice off paper under your mouse and resett your mouse setting to the defaults.

You could probly get a QS cheeper and with the same basic performance. [ 09-13-2002: Message edited by: smithjoel ]

they are hot swapable. You don't have to worry about the 1 in 10,000 chance of blowing up your mobo when you pull your keyboard out of it's PS/2 or ADB port.

[quote] if you were to compair a new and previous Dual 1Ghz, it is less than a 3% increase in speed, I'd buy the QS, it's cheeper now.

I have an APC BackUPS Office 350VA and ES 500VA and I am happy with both. However, the next time I buy a UPS (which should be a long time down the road) I will be one of the higher end modles. My reason for this is they better modles aproximate …

$1,000 extra for a computer and $120 every six months is worth it to say "I have a UNIX workstation" without having to learn UNIX.
