Hey, that is just my opinion. I am also probably wrong as well! Everyone else thinks that it will be announced in Sept and ship in Oct.

Close but still some bugs to work out. Newtork and mail issues mainly. Also, CD burning is slow - real slow. I predicit November - December as the release date.

Well 7B44 is not finished by any means. The SMB problems still exist and the network broswer function is... well not functional. Apple, take your time and fix the bugs first!

Zapchud said: "Ah yes, found it! In Disk Utility, which is the old Disk Utility and Disc Copy merged, there is an option to "Leave disc appendable". That should do the job quite well!" Where is this? In 7B44 I could not find this. The Mac…

Exactly. And what are people complaining about? The G5 only appears to have a clock-for-clock increase in performance. It is amazing how accurate the eweek article was. But wait for panther. On my 1 ghz tibook, Panther flies. It is much faster. Apps…

Re-read this article. It is spot-on regarding the G5: http://www.eweek.com/article2/0,3959,1121736,00.asp

What? That is stupid, MLK only really came to prominence after WWII. And why would Hitler listen to a black man?

I don't believe it. Cleary a crappy photoshop job. Just look at the detail on the G5 label. And the macine is crooked. Fake, fake fake! ps. more info on the startup speed and multiple application startup woud be great!

I am waiting on the same machine. It is going to replace a 450 Cube. How much faster is it? Tell us all you can!
-
Yes, it is not the cheapest machine and you can get a PC with better numbers, but I still think the 17 inch iMac is a nice computer. A machine that I happly push to people. Of course I wold agree that with a 200 MHZ bus and a 7457 it would be an eve…

Is the USB 2.0 really 2.0 or is it just the old renamed USB 1.1.

At these price points, do people think that apple can sell 250,000 units per quarter? If they can, they will be rolling in cash and can push the development of the other systems. My guess - 4th quarter sales of ~300,000 units.

As and education institution we can get the low end G5 for $1619 or the Dual 1.25 G5 for $1443. In my mind there is no questions. The G5.

What is funny is that I was told that new towers were coming and that I would still be able to buy one for $1200 (education). He was right. It's a 1.25 single G4.

And all those apps unfortuenely take up close to 200-300 MB! I also think the 112 is a typo. Who uses a 112 FSB?

Hey, does this imply that the MacBidouille benchmark results are accurate? That would mean that a 1.6 is slightly better than a P4 3.06 at some tasks and a dual 2.0 is 2-3 fold better at those same tasks. That would be amazing.

I have nothing about specs but was told that new Powermacs are coming and that I should still be able to get a $1200 Powermac (education). If this is a 1.6 Ghz 970 I will be estatic!

I don't now anything about specs but it was mentioned to me that new Powermacs are coming and that I will still be able to get a low end Powermac for $1200 (education). If that is a 1.6 ghz 970 machine that would be amazing.
