I also am not making the connection between an app for iPhone and supposed comparisons to WP7. OT, but it behooves Microsoft to focus on the Next Big Thing than perpetually playing catchup to Apple and Google. If this were a game of chess, App…

True.

Quote: Cut is a more complicated concept than it might first appear. In the context of data within a document, it is fairly straightforward. That data tends to be under the sole control of the editing application, the application from which the …

Apple's all about fat margins. Zacate would allow them to roll in even more money, and cut the price to boot. And shrink their mobo.

Did that particular mobo pose any problems, with regards to Apple drivers? I'm looking to build a Gigabyte x58a-ud5 or ud3 system; supposedly they have complete Apple driver support out of the box (sound, etc). I'm going to make a 4.2Ghz i7 93…

Quote: The big problem with this thread is that the material does not support the idea launched. To my ears I heard nothing about Fusion but rather heard about current hardware. It really looks like the rumor mill is broken. Not even the line "A…

That is a sick rig, danvid36.

Quote: Not that it will matter by next fall, anyway. Agreed. Looks like someone at Apple drank some sanity-juice.

Marvin: http://www.fudzilla.com/processors/i...ace-amd-fusion "In a series of Fusion APU slides, Ghilardi also showed slide number 7, which clearly named Apple as one of the many Fusion partners."

I agree the Finder is lousy in places, but more for 'burn a CD by ejecting it' and the 'maximize' aka 'WTF' buttons on windows. Or spending 5 minutes calculating how many items are to be copied, rather than actually copying those files in 2 secon…

This article was one of the wackiest I have skimmed over. I concur with filburt's posts on page 1; he has his head screwed on. Quote: Aside from pretty hardware and Mac OS X Server's configuration tool, there's nothing particularly unique abou…

The software Apple acquired 15 years ago (now discontinued) has little bearing on their strengths today. Technology gets stale, fast.

It's worth noting that google is built on commodity pc hardware running linux, with some crazy fast networking gluing it together. When they need to scale, they buy more commodity PC hardware.
-
$3000USD for a $1000 PC with a shiny aluminum enclosure and an OS nobody would ever use in enterprise? I'll take 5. These are going to sell like hotcakes.

edit: wasting my breath.

It's not like there isn't precedent for many devices, one OS. Like... the Mac computer you are reading this on. Or Windows. Or linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, etc. In fact, having a dynamic, scalable UI is an advantage. It allows me to run Chrome on an 800…

We can add Silverlight to to pile. http://www.hardocp.com/news/2010/10/...m_silverlight/

I honestly don't know if it is my anti-Microsoft bias or a valid perspective, but something tells me competing on actual merit has Microsoft scared $%&#less. Not only does branding things Microsoft not guarantee success, these days it almost …

Market penetration of niche formats has never taken off. SACD and DVD-Audio come to mind. Or Quadraphonic records from the 70s. Surround sound audio is out there, it's just a pain in the ass to make and not in a format people want. That said, …
