Was this at an Apple store or a reseller? I just bought a new iBook from Amazon and the box had been resealed. They had to add in iLife '05. The unit wasn't used as far as I can tell and I'm very happy. I don't doubt this happens but I don't beli…

This confirms what I suspected: Xbox 2 will use tech from VPC 7 to play Xbox 1 games. I don't see any other reason for the Xbox team to be involved.

Three weeks ago I bought a D-Link DI-524 and it's working great so far. My friend has the D-Link DI-624 and it works fine for him. With rebates, both have been about $40 in recent weeks.

I love the idea of this chip. I hope they can produce it in quanities that Apple needs. It would be great for the 'Books. The integrated memory controller would solve the main issue with the G4. The rest of the G4 is a very good chip especially for …

Word on the street is that people have started receiving 1.8 & 2 GHZ PowerMacs with 970FX chips in them. I think Apple has transitioned the whole product line to the 90nm 970FX product.

I got a D-Link DI-524 802.11g 4 port wireless router last week and it's working great with my refurb iBook Airport Extreme card. It works from one end of my house to the other which is about 50-60 feet away and through 3 walls. It cost $40 after reb…

I'm guessing programming glitch. They are required by law to send notices if something is delayed greater than 30 days. The new month probably screwed up the program and generated a new batch of emails with incorrect dates.

Your friend may be better off with a 3rd party PC Card based 11g solution. If I remember correctly, the placement of the antenna in the TIBooks make the reception lousy. As far as Apple no longer selling them, it's disappointing that they didn't …

"The 60GB drive, which was discussed at Taiwan's Computex trade show, is due out in late summer or early autumn, according to a US representative for Toshiba." Link Since they don't go into production until August/September, I don't think App…

$150k on a G3 iBook? Congrats. Would you have done more on a PowerBook? 200k? 250k? Usually time is money. I just hope that with the 'retirement' of the ADC on the new displays that a market for video cards will spring up for the Mac besides A…

You said the magic word: Student. Check out the Apple Student discount. Or you can look at the refurbs. I'd go with a refurb 1.8 ($1799 when they have some) or new 1.8 ($1799 student) and save the cash.

At one point Apple seemed to be trying to not have product introductions at MacWorld (and WWDC). This was to get the buyers out of the habit of waiting until these events to buy gear. I'd love to see Apple start doing more frequent bumps in speed an…

The cheaper one is just the bare drive. The more expense one is the retail kit (usually with some software). Since the 107 is supported by 10.3 you don't need the software.

In the past, IBM has used cards with x86 chips to run Windows. I don't expect this new announcement to be any different.

FYI: I just received an invite to an IBM iSeries presentation on May 4th. They are going to announce POWER5 based iSeries on that date. No details yet on when they will ship. May 2 - 6 is the COMMON conference which is a big twice a year trade show …

Do you see any mention of native support for the new Pioneer DVR-107 drive? A kext maybe?
