built in camera == great idea, and more likely than not.

Hmm... 802.11 doesnt seem to be built for wireless peripherals at all. While its possible we'll see wireless peripherals, I dont expect to see any Airport involvement.

Err.... I think this has been discussed quite a bit already.

Damn... I need to buy an ibook, and SOON. I would be kicking myself if there was another speed bump or feature change right after I bought. It's always a bad idea to buy right before one of these expos, but I'm kinda screwed on timing.

Please tell me how this is better than the 2.4gz video broadcasters you can buy at RadioShack for $60?

[quote]All the display needs to do is show song lists and information. Black on white gives good contrast and is highly readable for text. So color would be a waste…unless it would be used for something else; one could envision the iPod displaying p…

[quote]Don't discredit things like fit, finish, and style. iPod is also tremendously intuitive. The trouble is that most people cannot afford the current offering. I don't discount these things. You're just assuming that Apple, even with its empha…

[quote]Smaller or no hard drive, ie solid state memory. If they really can't sell iPod as is for less than $400, they need to get one out there that costs $100. There is a market for MP3 players that can only store 100 songs. Just look at the succes…

[quote]The calculation goes as follows: 1024 * 768 pixels/screen * 4 bytes/pixel * 60 screens/second = 188743680 bytes/second = 180 megabytes/second This is way more than even the theoretical max. bandwidth of GBit-Ethernet. Besides, 802.3b can h…

[quote]2. G3. The iMac needs a G4 for the superdrive. Apparently, since the Apollo is going into the Powermacs, the iMacs will remain G3 dinosaurs. That's not a very good reason. People seem to be indicating that the encoding time is more a mat…

The only thing that bothers me about that article is the mention of a GeForce 2MX. I had heard a couple of months ago that the 2MX was being sunsetted. Even if it were to be available for a month or two after launch, why would you launch a complet…

[quote]1 Some problems with current digital cameras: the storage is damn expensive, and it writes slowly. The 5GB HDD of the iPod would be absolutely perfect enclosed in a nice rugged but not too big digital still camera. 3-6MP images? RAW TIFFS? NO…

[quote]I really don't think we will see either cameras or camcorders from Apple. These are both very competitive and mature markets that now require huge R&D investment to make any sort of difference. Sony chips dominate both markets and you wou…

[quote]But what if the iPod were used to display PHOTOs? It's the perfect device for it. Just dump all your digital photos into the iPod while on vacation, and you don't need expensive flash ram or any BS like that. All it would need is an adaptor t…

[quote]Only if you can get DVI throughput. Hard on wireless right now, by an order of magnitude. I'm just thinking that if there *is* a quartz accelerator, it would play into the discussion in the other thread about sending primitives across the …

Am I the only one who thinks there is a connection between this thread and the wireless display thread?

What's the big deal about a custom ASIC? Apple has people working on processor development, and they make their own motherboards, and don't those use chipsets developed in house?
