I got a Canon Powershot SD800. SpamSandwich: Yea, something is fudgered with the posting. But your reply does work even thought it gives you an error. Oh yea, and Admins, my post-box is bigger than everyone else's. But I'm used to that, just …

I just installed software that came with my new Canon camera and they have their own Time machine sort of thing for digital photos. I haven't used it much, but is looks spiffy.

There is a program for Mac that can make basic changes the log on screen, but it is not that advanced. I think you could add the graphics, but not change the layout. Also, it is not free. Bumer. ~ Linky ~

If you are buying new, wait until after Macworld if you can. (Second week of January) But try to get an Intel mac. They have a brighter future then PPC. Then again, my PPC laptop is 6 years old. (A G3!) Even today, a G4 will have lots of l…

My Grandpa helped build/launch the Galileo probe. I'm cool by association. Hehe.

I was thinking the motion sensors in todays laptops lock the drive when in a free-fall. I suppose that is in anticipation of a crash. To be honest, I haven't really spent a lot of time on this. One of those passing thoughts...

That is cool! I always wondered if hard drives actually worked in a zero-G environment but now I know. It is easy to add a solid state drive for a laptop, but probably not a iPod. But if it did, it would save battery life and I would really…

My hunch says you already found your problem. If I recall, only the apple computers built in the last (3?) years can boot off USB. The others boot off of firewire. I could be wrong, but I think that is the case. The Symbol you see tells me your …

There is a firmware lock but you have to activate it first. You could try to reset the open firmware by holding down "Apple-Option-O-F" on bootup. I never used this feature on my Pismo so I can't get too specific.

I think you missed his post too. The 250 does not have component ports, but does have composite ports. Those are not HD.

Yea, the Elgato product doesn't record component video. That would cost a lot. It does have very low latency so it is good to capture screenshots from. I must have totally spaced in answering this question. I thought he asked something total…

It is not an expresscard, but check out the products on Elgato. They have cool hardware and excellent software to run it. Most of it is USB though, but the devices are getting pretty small. EDIT: Yea, I know it doesn't do HD. I read the quest…

For backups and music, USB and firewire are just fine. I do have external SATA drives and although they are a bit faster, they are still more expensive and you don't need that kind of power for your specific scenario.

I don't know what you just said, but I know I don't want to know either.

WTF? I am a computer geek and even I am not that desperate! That is downright wrong. EDIT: Holy hell! I just read your other posts. You are one screwed up SOB. At this rate it may be necessary to resort to the lost art of dating outside …

I don't know. Apple has a knack of doing strange things now and then. I think iTunes of Linux might be a major plus. It would also bring in some of the geeks and more support. The problem is that those who know don't put up with crappy DRM so th…

Is it just me, or is this technology already out. I've heard of all kinds of things being charged this way. Heck! The EV1 Electric car charged through this technology. Is there some breakthrough I am missing? Can we finally deliver the current …

I've had problems with corrupt color profiles before. There is a good chance the screen is calibrated correctly and the printer profile is screwed. You could try to reinstall them or download the latest ones for your printer. Also, double check y…
