Consider getting more RAM, and a bigger faster HD. It will cost you $150 tops to do that, and will be money well spent.

Are the flaws with these tests no completely apparent? Tests like "Altivec Fractal" are tied to the processor, and do not require that information be moved from RAM to the CPU. They are completely bound by the CPU. Since both machines have th…

There is a $200 mail in rebate on that model. Brings down the price to a more reasonable $1400

I remember Invisible Oasis. That was great for freaking out the roommate in college. That, plus sending "redial" to a pager to get Voice Mail passwords, and you're golden. There were some other good ones back in the day as well. One dis…

Sadly, this won't happen until the Powerbooks improve. No way they're going to release a 933/133 ibook with the powerbook sitting at 800Mhz.

I think Satchmo's got it right. They can't release a G3 iBook that's faster than their $3200 Powerbook. Unfortunate, but I can't disagree with Apple's decision here. Hopefully we'll get 1.4GHz towers, 1Ghz Powerbooks, 1GHz iMacs, and 900Mhz iBo…

If you buy a powerbook that's faster than your desktop, you will stop using your desktop altogether.

Go to the "buy for your institution" page, instead of "buy for yourself."

I thought the 7445 didn't support the external L3 cache. They weren't going to make a $2500 powerbook faster than a $2300 tower.

Looking at that "allinone" page, Apple seems to have it right. They have a budget machine (the original iMac), a midrange machine (the eMac) and luxury machine (the new iMac). Enough choice to give something to everyone, but not so much as to be c…

I believe the TiBooks also have autosensing E-net ports, so you technically don't even need a crossover cable. A regular one should work just fine.
