Greenwich Ave is sort of cutesy (but not as cute as Litchfield or Chester or Cornwall) and you can get $10000 Jil Sander jackets or hardware there; the exterior architecture of the Apple Store looks like what was there before; for a bit on Greenwic…

have posted xbench results with a WDC .9, a seagate .10 and with two seagate .10 as RAID 0...... RAID 0 is the way to go (curiously RAID 0 seems to have less disk noise than using a single disk, but it is very quiet either way)

they are still for sale at all of the usual places and prices only dropped about $100 after the Mac Pro announcement, the G4 powerbooks dropped about 30% when the MBP was announced

I'm thinking of RAID 0 on two seagate 250 GB .10 for the startup disk and using the 250 GB .9 that comes with the system for backup (also to an external firewire disk)....... but open to suggestion/benchmarks..... this Mac Pro is unlikely to have …

The prime candidate for the high-end Pro Mac workstation would be the Xeon 5160. It's clocked at 3.0GHz (enabling Steve Jobs to finally reach the magic 3.0GHz number—albeit two years late and on an entirely different architecture) and has a 1333MHz …

our IT department ordered my 2.66/2 GB/bluetooth, they said the ship date is Monday

SuperDuper is the way to go, it does make a USB bootable clone for a MBP (if GUID format is used), so borrow your friend's drive (if you can) for the time the MBP is off being repaired and format it in GUID with disk utility, backing up to DVDs is a…

The Core 2 Extreme does not exceed 45 °C CPU temperature using the Intel retail cooler in an office environment.............You should care to enable SpeedStep, because it reduces the processor clock speed to 1.6 GHz when idle. This will cause the p…

another data point: my MBP 1.83/7200 converts to 192k AAC at 22-23x, plays 1080p without error at 24 fps (haven't tried to play two at a time), haven't ripped any CDs yet

he didn't indicate whether he had beam sync off or not, this slows down the user interface tests (numbers indicate that it was on) see http://www.macintouch.com/imacintel/bench.html

folks already have them listed on ebay (but don't actually have them of course), so you could pay way over list to get one a few days earlier
-
I ordered the 7200 since the MBP will be doing a lot of photo editing (and there will be network storage at home by the time the MBP arrives)

can you do a verbose boot (command + v) and tell us what you see? you should end up in safe mode (command line) and then you just might have access to the NVRAM

yes, it should install on most any G4 (it does on older G4 laptops)........ the cutoff may/may not be at Quartz Extreme compatibility
