  • Five reasons to not buy the Amazon Fire TV Cube

Obviously  being Apple iTunes based I think you are missing a lot of the positives and downgrading the Fire/Cube as a result

Amazon Prime includes a huge range of FREE 4K original content plus a ton of pay to view 4K content

Apple iTunes/Apple TV 4K includes zero free 4K content - everything in apple TV/iTunes is paid for content

If you are an Amazon Prime subscriber then you get all that original and some third party content free.

I think if you are going to compare Apple TV to Amazon Fire you should do that on a cost vs cost basis. So if I pay for Amazon prime TV that 4K content can I get for $100 a year (£80 here in the UK) vs what I would get from iTunes. There is no equivalent subscription on iTunes so no direct comparison is available.

So if you compare the included 4K content on Amazon vs the cost of paying for every single movie or TV programme on iTunes, then Amazon has a much cheaper option

I have no axe to grind but I do think that if you are comparing devices it would be useful if you could compare the real cost of each rather than preferring the Apple TV option which in the end costs way more just because it is Apple
Please note that the Amazon Prime TV app is available on the Apple TV, so you don't even need an Amazon device to view Amazon Prime content.

    Vapid feature.
There are a number of features on the iPhone which I don't have a use for.  That doesn't mean that those features are useless or unenjoyable for other people.  The thing about mass market devices with lots of features is that some of those features are ones you use and others are ones you don't.

Can't get Messages on my Mac to sync via iCloud.  All of my iOS devices seem to work.  Anyone else have this issue?
Details including Mac are published at https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT208532

You have to read footnote 1 in https://support.apple.com/en-jo/ht207428 for confirmation that once Messages in iCloud is enabled, messages are now stored in general iCloud storage (which still counts towards your free 5GB or paid storage plan), rather than iCloud Backup storage.

Since most of the storage space is used by images and attachments, it would great to have a one-tap option to select all images / attachments, to delete them in batch (instead of having to select each of them one at a time one before tapping trash, or by deleting the entire conversation)
Thanks for the response but my issue is that Messages/Preferences/Accounts DOES NOT SHOW an iCloud option to turn on.   I have three Apple accounts (all active): .mac (default on all of my devices), .me, and .iCloud.   All of those are listed as being able to be reached, but NONE of them provide me with an iCloud option.
I did sign out, closed the app, rebooted my iMac (OSX 10.13.4) and still no luck.

Sounds like I'll have to phone tech support if others do not have this issue.
We all have the same issue, because we all are still waiting for MacOS 10.13.5 to be released.  10.13.4 does not provide support for messages in iCloud.  I suppose folks who are running a beta version of 10.13.5 may already be up and running, but they would be the only exception.

I downloaded Pass2u, and started to create a pass for a loyalty card. The app wanted me to login using my Facebook id (or one of Google or Twitter, I forget which). At this point, I closed and deleted the app.

Ok this is clear is mud, can any confirm it will support your iTunes Library even if it does not include iTunes purchases. My entire library consisted of CD which I ripped over the last 20 yrs, I have not bought too many digital only songs from Apple iTunes store. It announcement make it sound like only iTunes purchases are supported. I am assuming if i stream from my computer it will work. I am thinking if you have purchase it know what you purchase will play them via siri requests. My Homepod is due the 9th so i will see how it works, but a heads up would be nice.
Yes it will but you have to use iTunes Match and pay monthly.

Then its all accessible and you can even use Siri
"Hey Siri, play songs from my iTunes library"
    becomes
"Hey Siri, upload all of my vast iTunes music to Apple, charge me to store it there, and them stream it back to me."

We're talking about an Apple iTunes library here people!  This is not a "third party" situation!

That is exactly what I though, it will not allow me to stream directly from the vast library of songs on my computer, which I do not store in icloud and any way.

Today I have NAS with my library back up to, and it also is a PLEX server and it allows me to stream music to any device I have which support Plex and Plex on an iOS devices can then Airplay to any device in house which supports Airplay which I have a few speaks and ATV's hooked to surround sound systems in my house.

I have to decide if I want to pay for iTunes Match to avoid the who Plex system I have been using.
I fail to understand why your current PLEX setup, if it supports Airplay, wouldn't work with the HomePod?

It's simply the case that, if you want voice control via Siri, you need to have your music stored in the cloud.  I listed a few reasons in my previous post why making Siri work efficiently locally might be a challenge.
Siri can currently play songs from my local iTunes library on either my Mac or my iPhone.  There is no reason whatsoever that Siri could not also do the same on a HomePod.  It depends only on Apple making the decision to enable it there.
