  • Review: Apple's new wireless AirPods put a smile on 2016

Delivering hours of enveloping, untethered sound and Siri assistance, Apple's new wireless AirPods elegantly perform in a way that promises to put a smile on your face no matter how terrible of a day you're having--a beautiful thing given how many ugly days

Do you think he likes them?   I can't wait until mine show up on Friday. All I need now is a .5 meter (or shorter) USB-C to lightning cable.

I really like this news site and will likely always come here for Apple news, but this is pretty bad in terms of positive slant.

Apple missed the holiday season big time with this one. They touted an end of October release and over shot that date by a country mile. You rightfully point that out, but I'd hardly call this releasing in time for the holiday season. A handful of people who happened to order within a couple of hours of a release that was a surprise (December, not October) will luck out. However, there are going to be a lot of disappointed people this holiday season.

Well, think of the disaster that would have followed if they were released on time, but didn't work right.

  • Review: Using LG's UltraFine 4K Display with Apple's USB-C MacBooks is as simple as can be...

Ok so given the most likely thing I want plugged in to the monitor is Ethernet so I only need one cable to plug in at work.

Will I still get Tx1000 out of USB-c ports on the back or will the USB2.0 speed ports drop it back to 100?

The gigabit ethernet dongles still provide a 1000-baseTX connection,  but performance wise, they top out around 350 Mbps when connected to the USB2 ports on this monitor.  Not full performance, but still worth having IMO.

  • Review: Apple's 13" MacBook Pro with Touch Bar

What? ...not a word about the massively fast SSD?  I came from an early 2013 MBP, the storage performance is incredible!

I am all in.  Fully tricked out MBP on order.   Four TB3 ports makes SO much sense for me.  My home office, I am normally connected with two ethernet cables and wifi running.   Typically running Windows on VMware connected to my company network wire (via a VPN router and VMware bridging) and my personal network.  Now I will be able to run all that, including power to the MBP over a single cable!   Yay!

If I am in travel mode (hotel), I can use the ports for two IOS devices and still have room for my backup drive and power.  Thank you for the tip about USB-C charging.  I would have figured that out eventually, but two less devices to carry, let alone trying find a place to plug them all in.

Today I am running an early 2013 MBP with a 750.  It tops out at roughly 500 MB/s.  I can't imagine what 6x speed will feel like.

And this says nothing about 2.5 or 4 gig ethernet that is around the corner.  I expect that to be an easy upgrade.... just another adapter.

Far and away the most I have ever spent on a laptop (over 4 grand).  But I am more excited to my get hands on this one than anything else I have ever bought.
