  • Apple users supportive of privacy measures, but open to ad tracking

And yet, iOS still does not support DNS over TLS or DNS over HTTPS.  Why?

Windows 10 now supports secure DNS (even if it’s only DNS over HTTPS).

Secure DNS as well as restoring the option for full device and cloud backup encryption would be a good start.

Adding an option to force emails to be encrypted would be great. Say a Mail+ service that simplifies and makes secure email a reality for all iOS ans macOS users.  Maybe even build in some message retention features like automatic document deletion after a period of time.

Maybe add an option in Messages so that messages would self destruct after being read or after a specified amount of time?

How about an assurance that NO records of message traffic are stored by Apple for any reason?

Just a few real world options that would make real contributions to user privacy.

  • WhatsApp uses Status Updates to ease user worries over privacy

I deleted my Facebook and Twitter accounts for this and other reasons. Social media has become a disease in our society. I hope that it can be stamped out in the future.

  • Oura Ring review: a good complement to the Apple Watch

    geekmee said:
I am sorry, but please remind me.... What problem does this solve again??
I think for some it would solve the one issue that the Apple Watch still has. And that’s consistent sleep tracking. The biggest issue I have with the Apple Watch is the battery life. I put the watch on its charger when I go to bed. Can’t track my sleep very well when it’s on the charger. The ring would fill that void.

I have seen a couple comments here about maybe Apple should buy Ōura. I am not convinced of that but I am looking at this solution to fill that hole in my health and fitness tracking.

It’s sad that I am still looking for that device that does what my BodyBug did so long ago.

  • Leaked iPad Pro design images confirm few changes

I am not sure a major redesign of the device is necessary. The design of the device is already in its purest and best form. Both the iPhone 12 Pro and the iPad Pro represent the best possible design for their function.

Short of some groundbreaking new battery tech and see though holographic displays, I am not sure there is much to change here.

Now the internals are another matter. If the internals can be upgraded to say the M1 chip or something like that, then we would have something truly compelling.

Can you imagine an iPad Pro with the M1 SOC?

  • Apple on track to release mini LED iPad Pro in early 2021

So just to be clear, this is mini-LED which is just a backlighting method, and not micro-LED right?  Not sure what the iPad Pro uses right now, but it’s pretty impressive. I have lost track of what devices use LCD vs OLED tech.

I have high hopes that micro-LED will give us all the best of both worlds. The contrast and color of OLED and the no burn-in of LCD. Here is to hoping anyway.
