  • CORE Apple Store union negotiations hit a wall of Apple's design

Without even seeing what the union has proposed I’m pretty sure Apple could make the same complaints about the union and lack of good faith.

These workers need to realize that a union doesn’t grant them the right to the keys to the city, so to speak.

As long as the law is being followed, Apple as the employer can offer any pay level and benefit they want.  If the workers and union don’t like it they can do the sensible thing and go find someone willing to hire them for what they are demanding, or they’(the union) can take the adversarial role and try and strike.   I have a feeling a store closing would be planned if that were to happen but that is just a guess.

  • Apple is letting Tesla skip millions of dollars in App Store fees

So, I do t have a Tesla. So can’t see for myself.  But is this feature one that you buy through in-app purchase?  If not then no, Apple is not overlooking fees.

(I know others have brought this up).

  • 'Apple Music' can't be trademarked, says appeals court

Is this because of confusion with “Apple Jazz” or a more generic objection?  I mean, Microsoft couldn’t trademark “Windows” but they could trademark “Microsoft Windows”.

  • Judge rejects Apple's bid to throw out China sales comment class-action lawsuit

While I tend to agree that Cook shouldn’t have said that as it does make implications that he, as CEO, would have had the confidential data to really know about, it’s curious that they (the council) claimed they lost $1M but then pressed for class action status, which allows them to avoid having to show they made any losses.  How convenient.   Unless they made actual trades (presumably sold) in the near immediate time afterwards they didn’t lose a thing.  Paper value fluctuates.  You don’t have a real gain or loss until you trade.

Under a "presumption of reliance," the council wouldn't need to demonstrate that it made trading decisions after hearing Cook's analyst call comments.

  • EU proposes breaking up Google over anti-competition concerns

So, is the following description of the problem valid?

Google controls the search so it controls the showing of ads (inside search).  Google controls the actual ad company.   Google controls the intermediary who is supposed to broker the ads and their placement.   So Google control all the various pieces that have to talk to each other , and they also control the data associated with use of the ads.   So there is no real competition.

Sound like the old company store/company town. You get a job and have to live in company sold/leased housing and you have to shop in company supplied stores.
