  • YouTube TV will cost a lot more per month in April

Read a book.  Watch a DVD/Blueray.  Start or continue with a hobby.  Take a walk.  Go play sports.  Practice a musical instrument.

A million and one other things that are more worthwhile to me than watching stupid crap on a screen.

We have Netflix through T-mobile, that the daughter watches some anime on, and Prime video, whether I want it or not, since I want my crap delivered fast.

I’ve rented on iTunes once it twice when we had a family activity to watch a movie that we didn’t have a DVD for or wasn’t free on Netflix or prime at the moment.  Heck of a lot cheaper than a subscription that will tempt me to waste time.

YMMV but I would suggest trying to ween yourself off heavy media consumption.   You’d be amazed at all the stuff you can get done.

Here is where I am bamboozled:  Why is manufacturing NOT in North America (America/Canada) - it should be law.  There goes all the talk about human rights - the hypocrisy is on another level...
The answer to that question was made clear in the article. Manufacturing tends to move to where it is cheaper.

I read somewhere once that a manufacturing dollar is approximately the same everywhere in the world.  I wish I could find the link but it was well over a decade ago.

Their claim was that while cheaper labor exists in the third world, the productivity of that labor was commensurate with the cost.  A worker in the US that is paid $50/hour (and given commensurate manufacturing tech) can produce as much in one hour as a worker paid $5/hour can in 10 hours.  They gave lots of examples and reasons.  The basic premise is that the higher paying economies support higher levels of education and technological advances and these make the workers more productive.  One thing they did in their comparisons , though, was factor out the political costs imposed — regulation, taxes, etc.   they were comparing the raw costs of productivity around the world before political costs like regulations and taxes were added.

  • Battle of the sexes: Men and women like different iPhone models

We both have 14 Pro Max.  She had an 11 Pro Max but was having LTE issues locally where the 5G service had no problems on my 14 Pro Max (which I upgraded to from XS Max).  We were going to wait until next year for her but the service issues (certain long stretches of the way to work no longer had usable LTE (??)).

She likes the Max as she can use a larger font and still see a reasonable amount on screen. Older eyes…

Facebook / Meta could save themselves the time and trouble and money just by booting Zuck and his metaverse.

  • You can buy your next iPhone from Apple over a video call

Shop with a Specialist over Video”

I’d like to give big kudos to whom ever at Apple came up with this catchy name.
