  • Hands on: Apple's iPhone XR brings color and value to the 2018 lineup

At €879 for a 64 GB LCD iPhone, I'm going to say it does not bring value. What it does however it bring the price of iPhones higher than last year. Higher and higher. What Apple has actually done in the past two years is of benefit mostly to shareholders. And the spoiled kids of rich people.
Good news! The iPhone 7 is what, $499? "Value" very much depends on who's making the assessment.
Actually, that two year old 32 GB iPhone starts at €539 here. But I’m clearly talking about new iPhones continually increasing in price. And the reality is at a certain point value doesn’t depends on who’s asking. €50 toilet roll is €50 toilet roll, and a new LCD phone that starts at almost €900 starts at almost €900. Shareholders, apologists, people with a lot of money and Apple bloggers—very few other people defend these price increases. It’s telling that Apple execs are all multi-millionaires. I’m not denying Apple make good hardware, I’m just pointing an awareness to the reality of new iPhones continually increasing in price.
Inflation is a thing.  You know gas, bread, milk, etc all cost more each year as well.

I can't even imagine if the outcry if a US agency had the nerve to ask the USPS to open and make the contents of every piece of mail easily available "in case someone is doing something bad".

  • $50 million settlement nears in class action lawsuit over Yahoo security breaches

I wish I were more litigious.  I am 100% confident that this breach led to many bank accounts and CC's opened with my details.  During that time of the breach my realtor was sending DocuSign docs to me to sign.  It had all my data in those docs.  About a year later I was getting 2  to 3 CC's opened with my details per week.  The first one was created and mailed to me, then the rest were letters asking if I had authorized it.  Giant pain in the rear.  Thanks Yahoo.

If I still had my iPhone 7 I’d upgrade to the XR probably without hestitation. The whole talk about resolution and the XR not being 1080p is pointless—it’s nothing more than a semi-legitimate sounding complaint against Apple delivered simply for the sake of complaining about Apple. The most outstanding aspects of my XS display are the colour and blacks. The higher resolution is only an extremely small benefit.
Would you buy a TV that wasn't at least full hd in 2018? Of course you wouldn't, so why buy a phone at £750 that wasn't either? Why compromise with downscaled videos etc. ?
For me it completely has to do with the fact that I don't rely on my phone as my source of high end movies and videos.  As long as I can tell what the gif is and watch the occasional show on netflix while waiting somewhere I'm good.

Considering I'm moving up from the 6 to the Xr I don't expect to miss out on any features.  Sure compared to every other poster here I'm the exception, but for the vast majority of people who don't upgrade their phone every year but only when they actually start to see performance issues this Xr is perfect.  Gives me all the power and speed of the latest and greatest and all I give up are 3D touch (which I don't have now) and some deeper colors (which I don't have now) and save $250 per phone.  I'm happy with it, if Fiday would just get here already!

Wow this site is really obsessed over what the media says about Apple competitors. Why do you care?
Because it is DED and it always a good thing to call out the fake media and point out their obvious mistake. If this is not done then people walk around thinking these people know what they are talking about.

Just more evidence you should not trust most things you may read.
So now fake news does exist?
