  • Huawei surpasses Apple as world's No. 2 smartphone vendor

And I know Apple doesn't care at all.  market share isn't nearly as important as revenue share.

  • Samsung continues anti-iPhone X crusade with three new videos

    Dear Samsung,

Thanks for the free advertising.  None of the things complained about in the commercials are things that have a negative impact on most users.

  • Apple audio processing could change the way headphone users experience music

    Seems ,interesting.
But Apple Watch coupled with AirPods make the best combination I’ve ever seen .
When it works, I agree.  About every 3rd time that I stream Apple Music to my airpods from my watch instead of my phone I end up having to reset my watch from new so that it will remember that my phone exists.

The first three times I went through this I contacted Apple.  Since then I'm tired of the same answer:  "that shouldn't happen, try resetting from new".  It's to the point I just always now keep my phone with me.

But yeah, when it works, the AW3+LTE and airpods are a great combo.

  • Apple purges 'Doorbell' category from HomeKit accessories page

I have the Ring doorbell and I don't necessarily see what use there would be in getting onto the home network.  The app works well by itself and notifications are handled well.
It is a shame that Ring was bought by Amazon since I do not trust their use of data.  Unfortunately, I bought the device about 2 months before and cannot do anything about it now.
Not for watch users.  All we get are alerts, can't do anything with them.  Then you have to pick up your phone or ipad, launch the app and hope you get it before the person leaves so you can talk to them.

The entire reason I went with Ring Pro was because of Homekit.  Since it hasn't happened I haven't expanded my Ring purchases, though I would like to add two of their outdoor cams.  Won't do so until it works with the ecosystem I have chosen.  I also wonder if a lawsuit is in Ring's future, since I specifically went with Ring Pro based on their assurances it would work with Home Kit.

  • Researchers find loophole that extends USB Restricted Mode's hour-long timer

Why can't apple just give me a toggle, make it part of control center, where I can just choose to disable data transfer via lightning?  Should be much simpler than all these "what if" scenarios that could be stopping music or preventing charging.

I have no reason to stop data transfer, but for someone who is worried about this they have that option.  Then the plug only can be used for charging until the phone is unlocked and toggled back to allow data.

Everyone is happy except those that want to force their way onto your phone.
