  • Samsung defends Galaxy S9's 'AR Emoji,' says feature doesn't copy iPhone X's Animoji

No no, it's different.  It's not called animoji...so it's different!  Promise.

  • Apple to launch branded over-ear headphones as soon as this year

Why is Apple developing an audio accessories line separate from Beats?
I'm probably the exception here as a gen-X poster, but I don't like the look of Beats.  Bose looks more refined and that's why I got them, i don't want gaudy or flashy headphones.

i'd expect Apple to be more refined, subtle.  Even if they use the same guts but have a more polished look, that might have swayed me.

The pixel 2 is only sold in a few countries which are Australia, Canada, Germany, Italy, Puerto Rico, Spain, United Kingdom and United States, so you have to take that into account with the sales numbers.

At the end of the day the pixel 2 has been rated as a superb phone, and most of those educated in this business seems to carry one and use it as their main driver.
Educated in what business? Shilling? I’ve seen like 3 pixel phones in the wild in NYC.
My boss has a Pixel, the first version.  Not sure why as he uses a MacbookPro and the rest of his family is on iPhones and apple watches.  He likes to think he is more "techy" than the rest of us though, so I think that plays into it.  It's funny when we are in a meeting and we all have our phones on the table and there will be a dozen people in the room and he's the only non-iPhone on the table.

Also Samsung makes prettier phones at the pixel 2 price range, the uneducated don't take into account software updates or unlimited photo and video backups and no bloat at the point of sale.

Unless the sales staff advise their customers of this the customer will walk out with a Samsung everytime.
I take into account that I don't put any of my photos, documents, or anything on googles servers.  My photos stay on my iPhone.  I don't even put them on Apples cloud.  I don't take any racy photos or anything, but I just like knowing I am in complete control of everything mine.  I'm a bit older, just outside of the Millennial demo so maybe I'm just screaming "get off my lawn".  But I've said it before that i don't trust Google with my data.  I do trust Apple until they give me a reason not to trust them.  THAT is what keeps me off any Android devices.  Sad too, because I like a lot of Samsungs products.  Have many of their TV's in my house.  But as long as they are running google software they are a non-starter for me.

  • iPhone and Apple Watch Emergency SOS feature save woman, child after collision

Excellent use of apple watch and Siri. Surprised she hit the steering wheel though - surely an airbag would have went off in such a new car (Nissan Rogue/Qashqai) and the seatbelt would have tightened instantly (was she wearing one?). Airbags are not only for frontal impacts, I remember my old 2003 Renault Laguna deploying various airbags including the steering wheel when I was hit from the side.
We’re missing something...  she probably wasn’t wearing her seatbelt.
I too am glad she is safe and this is a good story.  But she suffered all that damage but took a photo w/her watch without any facial wounds in the hospital, which I assume is shortly after the accident (based on hospital garb and ID bracelet)?  I would think that many hits to the head that caused severe concussion and blackouts to do more damage.  I had a head injury with just a slight concussion that grew a lump the size of a baseball on my forehead.

Not saying the accident wasn't severe, but thinking it might be a bit embellished.
