  • Early reviews of Samsung's $2K Galaxy Fold marred by many broken screens [u]

Samsung is first to market with a foldable phone. It’s a work in progress so expect some bumps in the road. Samsung gets a pass on this. You know it’s true. But if this were Apple it would be “DON’T THEY TEST THIS STUFF BEFORE THEY RELEASE IT?"

Yeah Samsung should be put through the ringer for doing production testing.  But they won't.  Someone sits on their phone every day and after a year the metal case starts to bend and the media gets up in arms (note I didn't use "gets bent out of shape" on purpose).  Samsung shows failures on the first day and they are getting a pass.  Disgusting.

And this is the issue you run into when your entire business model is hearing Apple rumors and then playing a game of "FIRST!".

How about waiting to do it right, Samsung?  Apple has figure it out.

  • Apple looking at updated 4.7-inch iPhone based on iPhone 8 for spring 2020

I love my Xr, but give me one that is 4.7" and I'd be thrilled.  Like some other posters, I'm not a huge fan of face ID.  It works great for me 99.9% of the time so for me it isn't a reliability issue.  It is more reliable than thumb print because I hated not being able to open my phone with any moisture on my hand.  But I too used the home button to orient my phone when popping out of pocket.  Now I have to use the rear camera.  I hate that face ID doesn't work when I wake up in the morning and am lying in bed.  Oh well, extreme first world issue there.

I just want a smaller screen, that doesn't require me to scrooch the phone around to accurately reach the upper corners of a web browser.  I'm 6'2", I don't have small hands.  I have no idea how people with small hands can use this phone.

Apple is still a disrupter. The credit card, insurance  industries are possibly the last of the sectors that, thus far, have skated by without any real innovation. And they’re soiling themselves.
What innovation has Apple brought to the credit card? What are they doing that no one else is doing?
A: Higher rewards when using Apple Pay (over the physical card) to help push the adoption of a more secure payment system.
The offered rewards are lower than my current card.  While it may help those that own the new CC to use apple pay, it is no incentive to convert customers to the new CC.

  • Apple's 'Think Different' court clash ends in Swatch's favor

Huge Apple fan, but I gotta mention: "Think different" was a parody of IBM's many-decade "Think" slogan.
Good point and I honestly don't know why Apple even bothered with this, other than perhaps win or loose they'd score some publicity points. I mean, cleverly parodying or playing off previous well known ads is par for the course, is it not? Maybe 'Think Different' is too old but I can't help to wonder if in fact "Tick Different' benefits Apple as much as Swatch. Anyway, I think it is clever and as much as benefitting Apple the court case is sure to have added value to the campaign
Had Apple not had this case, and AI hadn't reported on it I wouldn't know Swatch was still in business.
