How Apple's dramatic rise in computing flipped an OS myth

Maybe I need to spend less time in the "computer world".The interesting thing here is that this is perhaps one of DEDs better write ups in that it is largely reflective of history with few distortions. Well as far as I got in the article, I really have trouble with this sort of writing. It is in the same style as the garbage seen on many conspiracy theory sites that use misleading language to get points across. In a nut shell DED reminds me too much of the writing seen on those conspiracy theory sites and as such is repulsive. Consider what you would think of people that keep flooding you with links to these sites. Would you consider them well informed or gullible and stupid? Frankly when I see people praise these articles, in absolute glowing manner, I loose all respect for them as intelligent creatures. Maybe this is the result of being around since the first personal computers came out and seeing some of this first hand. The reality is that there are many explanations for the failure of almost every competitor to Windows. Believe it or not many companies where simply mismanaged or otherwise shot themselves in the foot.
"I loose all respect for them as intelligent creatures." Is this an Onion comment? -
How Apple's dramatic rise in computing flipped an OS myth
philboogie said:Yet even with Apple including Safari webbrowser to their iOS and macOS platforms, allegedly installed on more than 1.5 billion devices, its marketshare is a paltry 5.1%. Google's Chrome is on 72.4%, and people actually need to go online, download and install it. Somethings up, and it's not Apple's marketshare.

Today iOS is nearly 1B and Android is 2B cheapskates who don't buy anything.
Major reason for Apple Watch to exist is to induce more iPhone sales. Porting it to Android would be fantastic amount of work to achieve the opposite of its purpose. -
Apple is world's largest PC vendor with $47B in iPad & Mac revenue

Microsoft called iPad a PC back when it was trying to sell Windows RT. Jobs called it Post-PC. Is Mac a PC?Really, the point is that there’s a market for “PCs,” and IPad, netbooks and conventional 1990 laptops and desktops all compete for the same finite sales. iPad is certainly winning in low-price computer profitability. -
Editorial: How Apple beat Samsung in the 2010 global ARM race
wizard69 said:Somebodies memory must be failing because if memory serves iPad got a rather good reception in the media. The paid shills of course had to trash the machine. Then there are the people that couldn’t grasp the idea of a slightly different category of personal machine. In general though the press was pretty good to IPad.As for the partnership that was more involved than the glossing over it got in this article. Frankly it was an extremely successful partnership and only became a problem when Samsung’s fabs couldn’t keep up.I also linked to the post showing Steve Jobs reaction to media coverage of iPad, and Google's trending report of how intense "iPad is disappointing" was reported.
So no, your memory really doesn't "serve."
iPad did get positive attention after people started buying it, and people who got a closer guided look by Apple (like Walt) wrote about it more positively.
