  • Google is violating Apple's iPhone app privacy rules the same way Facebook did [u: disable...

"This was a mistake, and we apologize."

How is signing up for the Enterprise Developer Program, coding an App and then making that App available through that same Enterprise certificate considered a "mistake"? This just doesn't happen by accident.

But hey, didn't Google try to claim that writing specific code to take advantage of a Safari exploit to continue tracking also called a "mistake" by them?

If these are mistakes, what does Google consider "intentional"?
Not defending Google here... just saying that before I say this so you don't read into this incorrectly.

I can easily see something like this slip under the radar at a corporation the size of Google. It wouldn't take much in development effort to pull it off and use their certificate. The right access privileges and you're off the races. With the number of engineers, engineering managers and people jockeying for position, I can imagine a scenario with a director saying something like "wow I wish would could swoop data on iOS devices in xyz fashion". Then a manager taking him literal and having an engineer work on it on the side. Semi-parallel to what happened at VW.

I believe Computer Science and Software Engineering degrees should require engineering ethics courses. So much shadiness going on now days.

  • Facebook issues memo on Apple Enterprise Certificate fiasco as employees vent frustration

What do the employees expect? There was obviously some shady stuff going on. Apple is very explicit in their user agreement for enterprise certificates. They have certificates for just such an occasion as this vs. not requiring them at all.

One of the main rules in the agreement is apps are not allowed to be used by anyone outside if the company. They usually check that with an email address. I went through this with a very close Apple partner in 2011 for this rule on an internal iPad application. We were in the wrong, Apple was in the right. I'm sure Apple didn't take this whole thing lightly.

  • If you wanted an iPhone SE new from Apple, you've probably missed your chance

I agree with the backlash. Not only are they getting too big, they are getting too thin. It isn’t becoming too difficult to hold, it is too difficult to hold for me. Between the rounded edges and thinner design I don’t feel like I can hold it with confidence.

I’d much rather go back to an upgraded SE, maybe with an edge to edge screen and call it good.

Side note: I’m another one that is on the upgrade program and refused to get a Xs from my X.

  • New Alpine CarPlay receivers include unit with 9-inch floating touchscreen

Don't ever buy new vehicle without having embedded CarPlay in it's Infotainment system and works seamlessly. For old vehicles, add on like this Pioneer aftermarket system is all good.
I get what you're saying, but not all vehicles are crippled or have a hard time upgrading the head unit that are new. My 2019 Tacoma took an Alpine ILX-207 just fine. I used a Maestro i-Datalink adapter which retained all of my controls and added car feature sets as well. In a lot of cases the i-Datalink can handle a lot of the systems that the built-in units handle, such as heated seats are HVAC.

  • WWDC-featured title 'The Elder Scrolls: Blades' delayed until early 2019 for iOS and Andro...

I'm kind of surprised they are having issues. I played this in August at PAX West and it seemed pretty solid. Perhaps later levels just aren't getting done, but gameplay and base mechanics seemed great.
