  • Spotify matches Apple Music with improved $15 Family plan

Spotify has recently displaced iTunes in all the local Starbucks; there's prominent marketing materials on the walls, sitting on the sugar/creamer station, etc.  Hard to miss.
I wonder what Jimmy and Dre are up to these days.  Hopefully not getting ready to jump ship.

  • App Store shuffle brings long-awaited speed boost for developers

Great news.  But as a developer, the somewhat long wait time has pushed me to take new releases more seriously, trying to make sure they are polished and have a good number of new features before releasing.  If it's quick and easy to put out a new release, I can see developers throwing more crap over the wall knowing they can put out an update 2 days later.  I already see it with the near constant updates of many of the popular apps with a generic non-description of the update other than "weekly updates".

I don't by any means think Apple can or should fix this by making wait times longer, but I worry about lower quality app updates.

  • Apple pulls, then reinstates several Reddit clients from App Store over 'Not Safe for Work' toggle

Apple should at least give app developers a chance to submit an update instead of just immediately and without warning yanking apps that have been in the store for years.

  • BMW plans self-driving software overhaul to fend off the likes of Apple, Google

Glad to see all this research going into self-driving cars, but I still think we're WAY off from actually seeing them available for regular drivers on real roads.  Probably another 15 years at least.

  • iTunes, App Store, & Apple TV services hit by new outage [u]

    slurpy said:
So, how many people in this shitty, troll-infested pile-on thread were ACTUALLY affected by this outage? All I see is people taking the opportunity to excitedly bitch and whine about how shitty Apple is. I'm guessing 95% of people who contribute to these outage threads were never affected by it, and for the remainder, they only discovered about the outage by reading a headline online.

The entitlement has gotten unreal. It's cloud, it WILL go down once in a while. Google, Microsoft, and every other company on the planet is not immune to this, no matter how much money they have in the bank. You fucking whiners are insufferable with your demands, and your sense of victimization. The shrieks of "Cook must Go!" from those who didn't even suffer from this are hilarious. Maybe Jobs should have called it quits, since MobileMe was shit. What we have now is infinitely better, but that doesnt stop trolls who couldn't run a fucking lemonade stand from proclaiming that everyone at Apple should be fired.
Cue the valiant mighty Apple thread warrior that comes to Apple's defense every time something goes wrong and calls all who experience issues trolls, whiners, and liars.
