I bought two recently and, as someone else noted, I have not been blown away by the sound quality or “room-filling sound”. At $299 the didn’t break the bank. However, the lack of line-in for my vinyl record player still leaves me unhappy with the product overall. That clearly is designed to protect Apple Music subscriptions. Three out of a possible five stars, IMO.

  • 'Intentional' culture clash between Apple, Beats causes friction, aims to 'create something groundb

$3 billion? Still view this as a ridiculous acquisition.
Assuming all 13 million subscribers pay $10/month Apple Music (built on the Beats platform) is generating $1.6B in revenue annually - which alone would probably justify the price. For comparison Apple Music has a little less than half the subscribers of Spotify which is valued at $8-9 B. Further Apple sells a lot Beats hardware which at a high margin. Beats hardware alone is arguably a several hundred million to billon dollar business. $3B by most metrics is a reasonable price.
Yes. Beats was estimated by Tim to bring in $1B per year. I imagine with the additional marketing and sales muscle, beats hardware brings in much more revenue that that. then, on top of hardware, you can add the profit from the Apple Music subscription revenue.

Antenna bands at the top and bottom edges is definitely a more tidy and elegant solution than the current spaghetti soup on the 6/6s. But I was hoping with the rumoured move to a non-metallic or Liquid-metal casing material that it could be made to look completely seamless, we'll see...
My favorite iPhone design will always be the glass-clad iPhone4.  For me personally, it was the classiest design for a phone today.  Sure, it was on the delicate side, but it was a gorgeous piece of engineering.

Like Steve Jobs said about it, it reminded him of an old Leica.  I hope they one day revisit that design.
The back panel on my 4S cracked and I replaced it with the iFixit glass back, which is even more fragile than the official Apple rear glass. Looking inside the phone is really quite a treat-although the phone itself on iOS 9 is nearly useless.

    What rumor was that?
I thought I read a rumor where LiquidMetal might be incorporated into the aluminum somehow to allow for radio-transparency in a case that appeared to be seamlessly metallic. There also was a fleeting rumor about the use of ceramics. Not Mark Gurman-level rumoring, but wholly unsubstantiated chatter from far east suppliers.

  • Rumor: Second-gen Apple Watch going into trial production this month

If that Space Black SS with Space Black Milanese Loop is real, I'm all in at 42mm. That's just a gorgeous piece of hardware.

  • China's iPhone-clone Xiaomi defending its valuation after missing sales targets

Unbelievable that any consumer tech company chairman would think customers unwilling to spend money on hardware would be willing to pay recurring fees on services-especially in a market notorious for piracy IP infringement. Just how many billions can a cell phone maker generate pushing stickers?
