  • Asus ProArt Display 5K review: 27-inch Retina for a bargain

I have to disagree with such a favorable rating.
Backlight banding when auto brightness is enabled? Unusable HDR over USB-C? Those two points alone should barely earn 4.

Add in the unlabeled controls (unless the labels appear on-screen,) cheap plastic, and speakers that are most likely only good enough for notifications to really make it a pass-with-a-push.

I know, the point is the display itself. I’ve waited almost ten years for a decent 5K. Maybe the next Studio Display will be the sweet spot.

  • Tiled window management comes to macOS Sequoia, but it's hidden

I'm starting to feel unsettled by how many Windows idioms are being translated to the Mac. First the ability to resize a window from any edge (which means you can no longer be confident that your intention to drag a window will be respected), and now this window-snapping feature - which, thankfully, requires a modifier key to activate.

The historical advantage of the Mac is that it has eschewed the gimmicky features that seem cool or useful in favour of the provably better process that makes it harder for a user to do something damaging (an old example: making sure that the target of a copy operation has enough space to hold the files before starting to write them). I don't think the same forethought and diligence is being practised these days.
You’re saying two things: Apple should be designing the OS to protect us from ourselves and that this feature is not invented here, therefore it’s a gimmick. I have to disagree on both points. If you desire a true unadulterated Apple-invented platform you can use an iPad, as I’m doing now. It feels much like a straight jacket at times for me, which is why the iPad is an accessory for me and not my primary device. 🤷🏻‍♂️

  • iOS 17 could introduce updated Control Center, says leaker

    Japhey said:
I know it might be minor, but I really wish they would give us the ability to rearrange Control Center icons from within Control Center itself.
It's always been strange that the existing customization controls seem more like a temporary measure. It would be helpful if the icons could use color to aid differentiation.

  • 'iPhone 13 Pro' has new colors & stainless steel coating, claims leaker

I’d like to see the lens flare reduced or removed. If the Pro model wasn’t so damn heavy I’d consider it over the mini that I have. Touch ID would be fantastic.

The battery life on the mini has been given a bad rap. I find it does very well.

YouTube wants to restrict an iOS feature until you pay for YouTube. No.

I have found a working solution that still allows PiP, so funk that.
