I was hoping for announcements for software to take advantage of all this graphics performance that aren’t on the Mac, like CAD software such as Solidworks.

Base 14 inch MBP is the replacement for the old Touch Bar 13 inch MBP. Its purpose is to create a lower headline RRP for the MBP range and I doubt Apple thinks it will sell many.You would buy an M2 MBA over it with extra RAM. If you really need an MBP, you aren’t buying this machine anyway.

Ultimate showdown: New Apple Pencil USB-C vs old Apple Pencils
Seems like a weird product release to me, as someone who owned the first gen and currently the second gen. My current set up uses Nebo to keep notes on everything with very good handwriting recognition. Not perfect, but so close I am happy to use it and replace thirty years of notebook taking. gen2 is markedly better than gen1, and wireless charging is a big part of that superiority. It is always charged ready for use.
Maybe what this product release says is that Apple intends to release pencil aware ipads products without magnetic charging for the pencil.
