  • Apple green lights Epic Games Store in rapid reversal

Apple needs to put a safety disclaimer, with regards to downloading from outside of the App Store. Now it’s at the owners risk, as these have not been certified with an Apple Gold Check mark, which means they’ve been tested at Apple.
Apple needs to NOT imply that apps from outside the Apple app store are somehow any less safe than apps from inside it, because if they lie like that they're going to find themselves with even higher fines.

    And that's a good thing.

Apple has been treating you so badly for so long that you've developed something akin to Stockholm Syndrome.

So are you saying that when a compromise happens, then Apple *customers* need not blame Apple? Because that happens and is going to continue to happen. It's a balancing act, and I applaud Apple for playing this carefully. The news is not full of "iOS hacked" because of that approach, unlike how the news used to be full of "Windows hacked again!" We live in a dangerous world full of opportunistic folks.

  • Epic Games Store isn't on the EU App Store yet because of some user interface buttons

Apple is taking issue with button designs... that they are "too similar"?

Isn't that the very essence of Human Interface Guidelines... that the interface -should- be consistent from one app to the next?

  • ChatGPT for Mac app logged queries in an unencrypted file before getting caught

It's right there in the name, people.

    "Open"AI.

    Open for all to see.

But on a serious note, doesn't this reflect on Apple and macOS, too?

Maybe the operating system should be more openly surfacing where an app is writing data to? The Installer does a fine job of that, but maybe make that a standard feature for running apps. too?

Johnny had some great designs, but I can't forgive him for the lack of ports on Macbooks and the poor battery life due to the obsession with being the thinnest.

    And the bending iPhone 6s.
The world exists in balance. In order to get some things right, you must get some things wrong. It's about learning what works and what doesn't. Perfection is not without its flaws.

  • EU hits back at Apple withholding Apple Intelligence from the region

What's anti-competitive about NOT offering a brand new feature in a particular region? That makes no sense at all.

Apple is not retaliating. They are proceeding with caution. Two very different things. The regulations are currently full of holes that could result in unfounded fines. Better to play it safe. Good on Apple.
